CINESTRO is the Horror Fiction Short Film Contest organized by Serendipia Cine Colima, with a national call open to filmmakers from any state in Mexico. It seeks original horror-fiction short films between 10 and 12 minutes long (including credits), produced between 2024 and 2026. Submissions must be delivered in Full HD 1920x1080 quality. Winners are selected by a jury external to the Serendipia Cine collective, with cash prizes: $5,000 MXN for first place, $3,000 MXN for second, and $1,500 MXN (in kind) for third. The awards ceremony and screening take place during a special public event. Now in its fourth edition, CINESTRO has established itself as a leading platform for horror cinema made in Colima and Mexico, backed by institutions such as INAH and the University of Colima.

FOURTH CINESTRO CONTEST — HORROR CINEMA

Serendipia Cine Colima invites the audiovisual community, enthusiasts, and the general public of the state of Colima to participate in the Horror Fiction Short Film Contest: “CINESTRO”

CALL FOR ENTRIES: National

RULES OF PARTICIPATION

a) All filmmakers, enthusiasts, and members of the general public residing in the state of Colima or in any state of the Mexican Republic may participate.

b) Registration will be open from the publication date of this call for entries until it closes on 4/10/26 (October 4, 2026).

c) Submitted projects must be horror-fiction short films.

e) All registered projects must submit a trailer, poster, and short film by the dates established in this call for entries.

f) All short films must be original and have a running time of a minimum of 10’00” minutes to a maximum of 12’00” minutes, including credits.

g) Participating filmmakers assume full legal responsibility for the content of their projects.

h) All projects must be produced within the state of Colima and/or the Mexican Republic, and must have been made between 2024 and 2026.

i) Short films that were submitted and/or selected in the immediately preceding edition of CINESTRO may not participate.

j) All participants must submit their short film in Full HD 1920 x 1080 quality. The deadline for receiving completed projects will close on October 4, 2026 at 11:59 PM.

SCREENING AND AWARDS DATE: October 29, 2026

The awards ceremony will take place on October 29.

NOTE

1. Award-winning short films will be selected by a jury external to the Serendipia Cine collective.
2. Any situation not covered by this call for entries will be resolved directly with Serendipia Cine and the judging panel.
