The Güeplay Short Film Festival for Young Filmmakers is a cultural event dedicated to the exhibition, promotion, and dissemination of emerging Argentine cinema. Organized by Güeplay, the festival aims to support new audiovisual voices, strengthen the regional creative ecosystem, and create opportunities for connection between filmmakers and audiences.
The first edition will take place on August 13 and 14, 2026, in Resistencia, Chaco, Argentina, featuring both on-site and online activities, including screenings, workshops, talks, and special events. The festival will host three official competition sections: National Competition, University Competition, and “Fernando in One Minute”, alongside a diverse program of free cultural activities open to the community.

ARTICLE 1 — FESTIVAL OBJECTIVES
The Güeplay Short Film Festival for Young Filmmakers is a cultural event dedicated to the exhibition, promotion, and dissemination of Argentine short films, with special emphasis on emerging productions by young filmmakers.
The festival was created as an initiative of Güeplay, an audiovisual promotion platform aimed at increasing the visibility of independent works and generating exhibition opportunities for audiovisual creators in Northeast Argentina.
Through screenings, networking events, talks, workshops, and educational activities, the festival seeks to:
Strengthen the regional audiovisual ecosystem;
Promote new audiovisual voices;
Encourage access to culture;
Create spaces for interaction between filmmakers and audiences;
Establish the city of Resistencia as a reference point for audiovisual activity in Northeast Argentina.
ARTICLE 2 — DATE AND FORMAT
The first edition of the festival will take place on August 13 and 14, 2026, in the city of Resistencia, Chaco Province, Argentina.
The festival will be held in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online activities, including special events at different cultural venues throughout the city.
The main screenings and activities will take place at the Guido Miranda Cultural Center Microcinema.
ARTICLE 3 — FESTIVAL SECTIONS
The festival will include the following sections:
A) NATIONAL COMPETITION
Open to works by young filmmakers who are Argentine citizens or residents of Argentina.
Award:
Best National Short Film — ARS 200,000
B) UNIVERSITY COMPETITION
Open to works created by currently enrolled students in audiovisual, communication, arts, or digital media programs in Argentina.
Award:
Best University Short Film — ARS 200,000
C) “FERNANDO IN 1 MINUTE” COMPETITION
Open to works created by young participants, regardless of previous audiovisual production experience.
Argentine filmmakers and residents of Argentina may participate.
To enter any competitive section of the festival, the director or producer responsible for the work must be 30 years old or younger at the time of submission.
For collective works, at least one of the principal directing or producing roles must meet the age requirement.
For the University Competition, participants must additionally provide proof of current student status through an institutional certificate or equivalent documentation.
Festival organizers and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate.
ARTICLE 5 — WORK REQUIREMENTS
A) SELECTION
The festival accepts works in at least one of the following formats:
Fiction
Documentary
Animation
Audiovisual Essay
Video Art
Hybrid Formats
Works must have been produced and/or premiered on or after January 2025.
Accepted genres include drama, comedy, satire, horror, fantasy, romance, action, thriller, among others.
For the “Fernando in 1 Minute” Competition, the only mandatory guideline is that the cultural symbol Fernando the Dog must be incorporated as the main theme of the story. The festival will select the works that fulfill this requirement in the most creative way.
B) DURATION
Works submitted to the National Competition and University Competition must have a minimum running time of 5 minutes and a maximum running time of 15 minutes, including end credits.
Works submitted to the “Fernando in 1 Minute” Competition must not exceed 1 minute, plus a maximum of 10 seconds of end credits.
C) FORMAT
Works may be produced using any recording device or audiovisual capture format.
For festival exhibition, selected works in any competitive category must comply with the following technical specifications:
Horizontal format (16:9)
MP4 file format using H.264 codec
Minimum resolution of Full HD (1920×1080) or higher
Festival organizers may request new files if submitted copies do not meet the technical requirements for proper screening.
D) LANGUAGE AND SUBTITLING
Works submitted to the “Fernando in 1 Minute” Competition must include burned-in subtitles.
Works produced in languages other than Spanish must include Spanish subtitles for all official competitions.
Although not mandatory, the festival will particularly value accessible works that include:

ARTICLE 6 — SUBMISSION
Submission is free of charge.
Works must be submitted exclusively through the official festival form available at:
www.gueplay.com
Submitting a work implies full acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
Any submission that does not meet all requirements will be disqualified.
ARTICLE 7 — SUBMISSION PERIOD AND SELECTION
The call for entries will be open from May 29, 2026, through June 26, 2026, inclusive.
Festival organizers may extend the submission deadline if deemed necessary. Any extension will be announced through the festival’s official communication channels.
Selected works will be announced within 30 days after the submission deadline through Güeplay’s social media channels (@gueplay) and through the contact information provided by participants.
Selection will be carried out by the festival’s curatorial team and artistic direction.
All decisions of the selection committee are final and non-appealable.
ARTICLE 8 — SCREENINGS AND ONLINE EXHIBITION
The festival will operate in a hybrid format.
Selected works may be screened:
In person
Through official festival digital platforms
As part of special activities related to the event
Online screenings will:
Be free of charge
Be non-commercial
Be subject to territorial restrictions if requested by the rights holder
Remain available for 30 days after the conclusion of the festival
Works will remain available online only for the period established by the festival unless otherwise agreed with the filmmakers.
ARTICLE 9 — RIGHTS AND AUTHORIZATIONS
Participants declare that they hold all necessary rights regarding the submitted works, including:
Copyright
Music rights
Image rights
Archive rights
Third-party material rights
Distribution rights
Location usage rights
Festival organizers shall not be liable for third-party claims arising from failure to comply with these obligations.
Should any claim or issue arise, festival organizers will notify the filmmakers.
Participants authorize the festival to use excerpts, still images, trailers, and promotional materials exclusively for cultural, educational, and festival promotion purposes, without commercial exploitation.
Filmmakers also authorize the festival to use submitted audiovisual material for promotional, cultural, and educational purposes for a period of 12 months following the end of the festival.
Works will remain available online only during the period established by the festival unless otherwise agreed with their rights holders.
ARTICLE 10 — SCREENING COMMITMENT
Selected works will become part of the festival’s cultural archive and historical catalog.
The festival may screen selected works in:
Festival screenings
Traveling showcases
Special screenings
Educational activities
Institutional events
Future cultural promotion initiatives related to the festival
Such screenings will be conducted on a non-commercial basis, always respecting authorship and acknowledging the work’s official participation in the festival.
ARTICLE 11 — JURY AND AWARDS
The jury will consist of professionals from the audiovisual, artistic, and cultural sectors and will be diverse, inclusive, representative of different regions, and reflective of a plurality of perspectives and professional backgrounds.
The official jury will determine the winners of the National Competition and University Competition.
The winner of the “Fernando in 1 Minute” Competition will be chosen by audience vote during the Outdoor Screening to be held at Belgrano Square.
All jury decisions are final and non-appealable.
Festival sponsor Instituto de Cultura del Chaco will provide cash prizes in the following categories:

ARTICLE 13 — PROMOTION AND PUBLICITY
Participation in the festival authorizes organizers to promote selected works solely for non-commercial and promotional purposes through:
Official festival social media channels
Print media
Television
Digital platforms
Cultural screenings
Partner media outlets
Educational and cultural institutions
ARTICLE 14 — ACCEPTANCE OF THE REGULATIONS
Submitting a work implies full acceptance of these Terms and Conditions by all filmmakers involved in the submitted audiovisual work.
Any situation not expressly covered herein shall be resolved by the festival organizers.

The University Competition is open to short films created by students currently enrolled in audiovisual, communication, arts, or digital media programs in Argentina. Eligible genres include fiction, documentary, animation, audiovisual essay, video art, and hybrid formats. Works must have been completed and/or premiered after January 2025. The director or producer responsible for the film must be 30 years of age or younger at the time of submission and must provide proof of current student status.
