On the occasion of the Obesity Day 2017, the Bariatric Center of Excellence - Sapienza University of Rome, in partnership with the City of Latina and « Amici Obesi » Onlus, organizes the second edition of Filmdipeso Short Film Festival.
The Festival aims to increase public awareness of the issues that living with obesity and eating disorders raises, through the screening of short films, which may also include patients’ testimonials of their treatment courses.
The mission of Filmdipeso Short Film Festival is to disclose the social, psychological and interpersonal impact of obesity and eating disorders on teenagers and adults.
The formal acknowledgement and recognition of obesity and eating disorders as diseases permits not only to approach new treatment opportunities, but also to dismantle prejudices and misconceptions.

Prix ​​en espèces: 3,000€

The jury will award the following prizes:
• City of Latina Award - € 1000,00 ;
• Giomi Award - € 1000,00 ;
• « Gianluigi Monniello » Award, to the most significant contribution to obesity and eating disorders in adolescence - € 1000,00.
The decision of the jury is unquestionable. The organizers of Filmdipeso Short Film Festival reserve the right to confer an « Audience Award » (further details will be communicated on the website).

1) Conditions of participation

The Contest is open to both professional and amateur directors, who may use any technological means during the filmmaking process. In particular, individuals currently affected by eating disorders or obesity, as well as ex-obese patients, together with whoever interacts with them during their daily life (with the exception of the health personnel in charge) are strongly encouraged to participate.
The essential participating condition is the films’ content relevance to the mission of the Festival. Filmdipeso aims to explore arguments, such as obesity and eating disorders, through the screening of the selected works. However, applicants enjoy complete freedom of expression and the Festival is open to any kind of production.
Only films that meet the following conditions may be chosen for invitation in the official selection:
a) All films must have been completed after January 1st, 2014;
b) All films must not exceed 15 minutes in length, head and tail credits included;
c) Non-English-language films must be subtitled in English or in Italian;
d) All films must be submitted in digital format (see art. 4);
e) Films previously presented to other competitions are also eligible.

2) Rules & Regulations

Submission and participation in the festival are free of charge. All applicants must fill out the Submission Form (see the attached document).
Submission forms must be sent to direzioneartistica@filmdipeso.it, and must include the following material :
a) A filled and signed copy of the Registration Form available online (www.filmdipeso.it);
b) A copy of a valid identity document (such as passport or ID card);
c) link to a streaming copy of the movie available on YouTube or Vimeo ;
d) a short synopsis;
e) director’s notes;
f) director’s curriculum vitae, only if he/she is a professional.
Synopsis and director’s CV may be used to promote the event. Participants authorize Filmdipeso Short Film Festival to screen the selected films, free of charge.

3) Submission and deadline

The deadline for submissions is September 23, 2017. Applicants must send the Submission Form (art. 2) to direzioneartistica@filmdipeso.it; applications submitted in paper form will not be accepted.

4) Selection

The Festival Selection Committee will choose the titles that will take part at the final competion.
Only the best 15 short films will receive a notification via e-mail. They must provide a copy of their works within October 5, 2017 to direzioneartistica@filmdipeso.it.
All films must be burnt on DVD and must be submitted in digital format (FULL HD video, MP4, H264 or MOV files) with dimensions of 1920X1980, 1440X1080, or 1280X720.
Selected films will be screened during the Festival on October 13, 2017 from 4 PM to 9 PM.
The official list of the films participating to the Competition will be published on the website www.filmdipeso.it on September 30, 2017. All Applicants will receive a notification containing the Official Selection via e-mail.
The directors (or someone else on his/her behalf) of the selected films must attend the Festival, under penalty of exclusion from the competition.
The Organiser reserves the right to cover the travel expenses of those who live more than 100km away from Teatro Comunale “G. D’Annunzio”, viale Umberto I, 1 – 04100 Latina (LT).
