MoliseCinema intends to promote the latest and most innovative productions of Italian and international cinema, giving priority to young authors and new languages, with particular attention to short films and documentaries.

In thirteen editions held so far, the festival has brought to the public a schedule very articulate hosting hundreds of actors, directors, producers and experts.

The success achieved so far, the participation of numerous guests and protagonists of the film world, the visibility in the local and national press and a general consensus that there was on the part of the institutions and civil society confirms the growing interest MoliseCinema , which has become a constant reference point in the cultural life of Molise and the South and it becomes more and more a national and international importance.
With "Filming Molise" the festival will enhance the Molise as a location for productions cinematographic and audiovisual.

The association also organizes during all the year exhibitions, screenings, meetings, exhibitions and events related to culture film.

The festival has 4 competitive sections:

International short movies
Italian short movies
Documentaries
Feature Films (first and second works)

For each of the competitive sections 3.a, 3.b, and 3.c a jury of experts appointed by the Board of MoliseCinema will evaluate the films in the official selection and award prizes and mentions, together with relevant citations. The awards, which will include prize money in proportion to the Festival yearly budget, are as follows:

Villages in Short: Best international short film award (named after Carlo Montuori)

Routes: Best Italian short film award

Frontiers: Best documentary film award (named after Giusepper Folchi)

Villages in Features: Best feature film audience award

Special prizes and mentions will be decided at the juries’ discretion.

Competition winners will also receive MoliseCinema K Prize, a sculptural piece by contemporary artist Baldo Diodato.

REGULATIONS

1. Objectives
The main goal of MoliseCinema Film Festival is to affirm the “right to cinema” in small towns and villages, by promoting the latest and most innovative works of Italian and international cinema. Special attention is devoted to young Italian, European and international film-makers, to innovative projects and new ways of expression, and to films dealing with themes such as relations between cultures and peoples, social and civil identity of communities, life in small villages.

2. Dates
The 13th MoliseCinema Film Festival will take place from 2 to 7 August 2016.

3. Sections
The festival is divided into the following sections:

a) Villages in Short. Carlo Montuori Award: international short films competition;
b) Routes: national short films competition (Italian productions);
c) Frontiers: documentary films competition;
d) Villages in Features: Italian and international feature films. Section reserved to directors’ first and second films.

Non competitive sections:
f) Filming Molise: archives of films d’auteur and other works on Molise and its territory;
g) Special events: special scrrenings, concerts, readings, shows and performances, retrospectives, workshops;
h) MoliseCinema Tour: a selection of films presented at the festival will be screened in other towns of Molise;

4. Juries and Awards

5. Selection process
Short films, documentary films and feature films to be screened during the Festival within competitive sections Villages in Short, Routes, Frontiers and Villages in Feature will be selected by the Board of MoliseCinema at its sole discretion. The Board of MoliseCinema will also select works and film-makers for the remaining sections of the Festival. The list of selected films will be published on the Festival website at www.molisecinema.it, as well as in the printed catalogue and other communication material.

6. Film entry conditions
a) Competitive sections Villages in short and Routes: Films of all genres that do not exceed 25 minutes and were released after 1st January, 2015, may be submitted for preselection. The Board of MoliseCinema reserves the right to accept entries to the competitive sections that do not meet the above criteria as for theme, duration or year of production. The Board may decide to establish competitive subsections for specific genres, themes and authors. Priority in the selection will be given to films having their world or international premiere with MoliseCinema Festival.

b) Competitive section Frontiers: Films in the documentary form released after 1st January 2015 may be submitted for preselection. In the selection process special consideration will be given to films dealing with the notion of border, either in a material or symbolic sense, and relations between peoples and cultures.

c) Competitive section Villages in features: Directors’ first or second fictional feature films released after 1st January 2015 may be submitted for preselection.

d) In order to submit a film, the entry form, which is available on MoliseCinema website at www.molisecinema.it, must be filled out and sent not later than 16 May 2016. Submission is finalized only when screening material is uploaded on the platform indicated on the Festival website or sent by post/courier. The date of online upload or the postmark date of shipment of DVDs and other storage materials will be considered as proof.

Information contained in the entry form will be included in the Festival catalogue and other printed material related to the Festival.

If film submission and upload are made through the online platform, no entry form and post/courier delivery of screening material are required.

f) The film-makers presenting films with dialogue other than Italian must send a copy of the film with Italian or English subtitles and a dialogue list, if possible in Italian or English.

h) Directors of the selected films will be asked to send, as soon as possible, at least 3 color photos either as print, minimum size13x18 cm, or in digital format jpeg or tiff, 300 dpi. The photos will be used in the catalogue and in the press for promotional purposes. Such use is deemed authorized free of charge. A high quality copy of selected films will be requested for the screening.

i) The official selection of the 14th Festival will be published at www.molisecinema.it by 20 July 2016. Film-makers of selected films will be notified via email. If a film is not selected no notification will be sent.

7 Deadline

Entry forms shall be sent by 16th May 2016.

8 Screenings

a) The programme and the screening schedule will be sole responsibility of the Board of MoliseCinema.

b) The films in a language different from Italian will be screened in their original version or with subtitles.

c) The Board of MoliseCinema will be responsible for publishing the Festival catalogue and information material on the films screened.

d) The DVD screening copies or digital files of the films screened at MoliseCinema will not be returned. Any copyright owners agree to leave the films in the archives of MoliseCinema for the sole purpose of research and cataloguing, and with the goal of promoting and recommending them to other festivals. The archives will be kept in a dedicated storage unit.

9 General rules
a) Application to MoliseCinema is free of charge and no entry fee is requested. Cost of postage, courier delivery, and film uploading must be borne by applicants.

b) Films not deemed eligible in previous MoliseCinema Festival editions will not be taken into consideration. However, the Board may reserve the right to evaluate again any films received and not selected in previous MoliseCinema Festivals.

d) Unless otherwise agreed, screening copies of selected films sent from non-European Union member countries should be labelled “No commercial value. For cultural purposes only”

e) Submission of an entry to MoliseCinema implies recognition and acceptance of these regulations without reservation. Once a film being made available by its right owner(s) is selected, it cannot be withdrawn from the Festival.

f) The Board of MoliseCinema may decide on matters that are not mentioned in these regulations. In the event of any dispute, the Campobasso Court shall have jurisdiction. Only the Italian text of these Regulations is authentic.
