The "REC Film Festival" stems from the desire of the "Mondo REC" Social Cooperative of Rimini to promote an annual gathering among young people who live or have lived, in various forms, the experience of creating a film, thereby fostering an exchange and sharing of ideas, passions, and interests.

The goal of the event is to highlight youth creativity in all its forms, keeping cinematic language as a common denominator. The Festival aims to become an opportunity to make known organizations across the country that make art an essential tool to stimulate participation and offer young people opportunities for creative gathering. Beyond films, it will also show how music, dance, and singing are excellent tools to engage new generations in an appealing way.

All of this will happen through the presence of groups from all over Italy, competing with their short films or featuring throughout the event in artistic showcases and performances.

The REC Film Festival will take place at the Tarkovskij Theatre in Rimini from Thursday, May 6 to Sunday, May 9, 2027.

Senior Category First place: 200 euros (two hundred euros)

Young Category First place: 200 euros (two hundred euros)

REC Film Festival Overall Winner Prize: 300 euros (three hundred euros)

First Place Youth Jury – Kids Section Prize: 100 euros (one hundred euros)

First Place Youth Jury – Young Section Prize: 100 euros (one hundred euros)

First Place Youth Jury – Senior Section Prize: 100 euros (one hundred euros)

The Youth Jury prizes will be awarded, together with the Special Prizes, during the final evening of the festival, Sunday, May 9, 2027.

CALL FOR ENTRIES – REC FILM FESTIVAL 2027

1. Aim of the Festival

The REC Film Festival stems from the desire of the Mondo REC Social Cooperative to promote an annual event dedicated to young people who live or have lived the experience of making a film. The goal is to foster meeting, exchange, and sharing of ideas, passions, skills, and experiences through the language of cinema.

2. Participation Requirements

Videos and short films with an open/free theme made by young people between the ages of 8 and 29, divided into the following categories, can participate in the competition:

KIDS: 8 – 13 YEARS
YOUNG: 14 – 17 YEARS
SENIOR: 17 – 29 YEARS
EXTRA REC: 8 – 29 YEARS, NOT COMPETING IN OTHER CATEGORIES

Works produced in the most diverse social and educational contexts, including schools, universities, informal groups, associations, production companies, and independent productions of individual authors, are eligible.

3. Registration

Participation in the REC Film Festival is free of charge.

4. Location and Dates

The Festival will take place in Rimini, at the Tarkovskij Theatre, from May 6 to May 9, 2027.

5. Technical Requirements

Short films must have a maximum duration of 15 minutes. Only works created on or after January 1, 2025, will be admitted.

6. Selection – Kids Category

Among all works received for the Kids category, 6 short films will be selected to participate in the competition evening scheduled for Thursday, May 6, 2027, at 8:30 PM. The selection will be carried out by the Artistic Direction of the Festival, whose decision is final.

7. Selection – Young Category

Among all works received for the Young category, 6 short films will be selected to participate in the competition evening scheduled for Friday, May 7, 2027, at 8:30 PM. The selection will be carried out by the Artistic Direction of the Festival, whose decision is final.

8. Selection – Senior Category

Among all works received for the Senior category, 6 short films will be selected to participate in the competition evening scheduled for Saturday, May 8, 2027, at 8:30 PM. The selection will be carried out by the Artistic Direction of the Festival, whose decision is final.

9. Selection – EXTRA REC Category

Among all works received and not included in the Kids, Young, and Senior categories, 12 short films will be selected to participate in the special events scheduled for Friday, May 7, and Saturday, May 8, 2027, at 3:00 PM. Six works will be presented on Friday and the remaining six on Saturday. The selection will be carried out by the Artistic Direction of the Festival, whose decision is final.

10. Final Admission

The 30 selected short films (6 Kids, 6 Young, 6 Senior, and 12 Extra REC) will be definitively admitted to the competition only if the filmmaking group guarantees the presence of the authors at the Festival. Participation is required so that young people can publicly present their work, talk about its creation process, and take part, where applicable, in the Youth Jury, in accordance with Article 17 of these regulations.

11. Awards – Kids Category

A Quality Jury, composed of actors, directors, and film critics, will determine during the evening of May 6, 2027, the top three places in the category. The first-place short film will advance to the REC Film Festival Grand Finale, scheduled for Sunday, May 9, 2027, at 8:30 PM.

12. Awards – Young Category

The Quality Jury will determine, during the evening of May 7, 2027, the top three places in the category. The first-place short film will advance to the REC Film Festival Grand Finale, scheduled for Sunday, May 9, 2027, at 8:30 PM.

13. Awards – Senior Category

The Quality Jury will determine, during the evening of May 8, 2027, the top three places in the category. The first-place short film will advance to the REC Film Festival Grand Finale, scheduled for Sunday, May 9, 2027, at 8:30 PM.

14. Awards – Extra REC Category

During the afternoon events on May 7 and 8, 2027, the Quality Jury will identify the winning short film of each day. The two winning films will advance to the category final, scheduled for Sunday, May 9, 2027, at 3:00 PM.

15. Extra REC Category Final

On Sunday, May 9, 2027, at 3:00 PM, the two finalist short films will be screened again. A special jury composed of young people from REC House Italia will determine the winner of the Extra REC section.

16. REC Film Festival Grand Finale

On Sunday, May 9, 2027, at 8:30 PM, the winning short films from the Kids, Young, and Senior categories will be screened again. The special jury composed of young people from REC House Italia will award the title of Overall Winner of the REC Film Festival 2027.

17. Youth Jury

Festival participants with a short film in competition will also be involved as members of the Youth Jury, tasked with evaluating works in categories other than their own. The Youth Jury will be composed of:

A Fixed Group, present for the entire duration of the Festival, made up of young people between the ages of 8 and 29 not in competition and participants in the Extra REC section;

Competitors in the Kids, Young, and Senior categories, who will act as jurors during the two evenings dedicated to categories other than their own.

The composition of the Youth Jury will therefore be as follows:

THURSDAY, MAY 6 – KIDS CATEGORY: Fixed Group + Young + Senior
FRIDAY, MAY 7 – YOUNG CATEGORY: Fixed Group + Kids + Senior
SATURDAY, MAY 8 – SENIOR CATEGORY: Fixed Group + Kids + Young

The Youth Jury will award the Youth Jury Prize to the short film considered best in each of the Kids, Young, and Senior categories. Members of the Fixed Group will also be called upon to assign the following special prizes to one or more short films in competition for the Kids, Young, and Senior sections:

- Best Actor
- Best Actress
- Best Director
- Best Screenplay
- Best Soundtrack
- Best Makeup
- Best Costume

18. Prizes
The prizes are as follows:

19. Application Procedures and Short Film Submission

The participation request and the relative film must be received by December 31, 2026, following the instructions on the official website https://festhome.com/festival/rec-film-festival

Even in the case of opting to send by mail or courier, the DVD or USB medium must strictly arrive by December 31, 2026 (the postmark and/or waybill will serve as proof).
