ICAF started organizing CHENNAI INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (CIFF) from the year 2003. All the earlier editions have seen a gradual growth in terms of attendance as well as popularity. With the film fraternity actively joining hands with ICAF since its 8th edition, the 14th edition of CIFF promises to be bigger and better.
Striving to be in par with the best International Film Festivals across the globe, CIFF is dedicated to presenting the best of international and Indian Panorama films to the cinema loving city of Chennai, just as it showcases the best of Tamil films to the world.
The Competition Section for Tamil Films that was instituted in 7th CIFF to encourage Tamil Filmmakers has been holding a strong presence. Active participation of the Tamil film fraternity was initiated and spearheaded by Ms. Suhasini Manirathnam in the year 2009, which gave a facelift to CIFF.
ICAF’s management team includes professional from various walks of life who have a passion for movies. The senior members of ICAF include but not limited to: Mr. Kannan, Mr. Ramakrishnan, Mr. Santhanam and Mr. Thangaraj (Festival Director), Mr. Murali, Mr. Srinivasan and more. ICAF is ably supported by the South Indian Film Chamber, Producers Council, Artists & Directors Association.
The film Fraternity team providing active support to ICAF include: Ms. Suhasini, Mr. Sarathkumar, Mr.Mohan, Ms. Revathy, Ms. Rohini, Mr. Jayendra, Mr. Manobala, Ms. Lizzy, Ms. Poornima, Ms. Shylaja and many more. The festival’s presence is felt on the web, social network sites, TV and FM radio apart from the print medium. The curtain-raiser press meets, opening and closing ceremonies, gala cultural shows, Chennai Film Forum Panel Discussions, Exclusive ‘Red Carpet’ evening screenings for an invited audience etc., all studded with film personalities from international, national and popular regional cinema all add substantially to the festival’s experience. Versatility and creativity will go hand in hand at the CIFF to give an exceptional experience.

Amma Award
Awarded to the best movie made by Students of MGR Film Institute
Film Buff Award
A special award for the passionate film buff. This is a web based award given to the person who watches the maximum number of films at 11th CIFF 2013 and gives his own personalized account of the films watched, not exceeding 100 words.
Post this on the website daily. Writing a few lines after every film you watch, guarantees a good chance of winning this award, which is a Collector’s DVD Package of a Director’s work. Receive this award along with the competition section winners during the grand closing ceremony.

Regulations and Entry Form for Competition for Tamil Feature Films
1. Awards
Following awards are given:
a. Best Tamil Feature Film
b. Second Best Tamil Feature Film
c. Special Jury Award
2. ELIGIBILITY
(a) The competition is only for Tamil Feature films
(b) One of the Directors / Producers should be an Indian National
(c) The applicant should have the right for sanctioning participation
(d) The film should have been certified between 16th October 2015 and 15th October 2016
(e) Dubbed films are not entitled for participation
(f) Entries should have sub-titles in English language
(g) The producer of the selected films should submit the Film in Digital Format with English
sub-titles or else it will be disqualified for competition screening
3. LAST DATE FOR RECEIPT OF ENTRY:
Last date for receipt of the application along with the screener shall be the 10th Nov 2016.
4. PROCEDURE FOR ENTRY OF FILM
(a) A film shall be entered only by its producer or right holder or by his authorized
representative. The producer should submit his / her entry in the Entry Form and the
form must be completed in all respects. The entry form should be submitted along with
the copy of the Censor Certificate, failing which the entry is liable for rejection.
(b) Two copies of the detailed Synopsis in Tamil as well in English
6. PROCEDURE FOR SELECTION
The Awards shall be decided by a three member Jury (a chairperson and two members)
duly constituted by the 14th Chennai Intl Film Festival
7.GENERAL
The decision of the 14th Chennai International Film Festival in respect of matters covered by these Regulations and of the Interpretation of these Regulations shall be final. A person submitting an entry for the award shall be deemed to have accepted these Regulations.
