a) The filmmakers must be:
- Regular students of careers linked to the audiovisual area of ​​Chilean universities.
- Students graduated or qualified during the years 2016 and 2017, of careers linked to the audiovisual area of ​​Chilean universities.

b) Participating short films must be national, that have been realized in some Chilean university after the 1 of January of the year 2015.

c) Works that have been part of the pre-selection and / or competition stage of previous versions of UDLA Festoc may not participate.

d) All participating works must be spoken, dubbed or subtitled in Spanish.

e) The participating works must have a maximum duration of 30 minutes, with credits included.

f) By the mere fact of registering his work, the applicant declares that he has read and accepted the rules of the contest.

BASES 2017
1. OBJECTIVES OF THE FESTIVAL

The Faculty of Communications and Arts of UDLA - Universidad de Las Americas together with the School of Journalism and its career in Audiovisual and Multimedia Communication, are pleased to invite you to participate in the 5th edition of the UDLA Festoc Online Film Festival.

UDLA Festoc is a festival of short films that seeks to highlight the talents of university students linked to the audiovisual area, to strengthen their academic and professional development.

UDLA Festoc seeks to create a unique space in Chile, so that the participants have a space to exhibit their works and in this way begin to spread their talents and abilities from their university stage, in addition to enhancing their encounter with relevant industry figures audiovisual promotion of self-management, entrepreneurship and the generation of new audiovisual productions.


In this new version, UDLA Festoc seeks to bring together the Chilean film industry and schools linked to the audiovisual area, generating a high level contest with the participation of juries of recognized trajectory.

We invite you to participate in the 5th version of UDLA Festoc and we welcome you to show the audiovisual university talent in Chile!
2. CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

a) The filmmakers must be:
- Regular students of careers linked to the audiovisual area of ​​Chilean universities.
- Students graduated or qualified during the years 2016 and 2017, of careers linked to the audiovisual area of ​​Chilean universities.

3. REGISTRATION PROCESS

The 5th version of UDLA Festoc will open its call for registration and submission of papers, between 20 September and 3 November 2017.

Registration is free and is done online through the official website of the contest: www.udlafestoc.cl, in the section "Inscribe your film", where they should send the Vimeo link of the short film with download option plus a password optional.

4. CATEGORIES OF THE MEETING

All the modalities are oriented to the exhibition of national works developed by students of Chilean universities, that develop some of the following sorts:

• Short Fiction Fiction
• Documentary Short Film
• Short Film Animation

5. PRESELECTION PROCESS

Works duly registered within the deadline for competition in each category will be submitted to a pre-selection process with a prequalification jury composed of a team of outstanding professionals from the area, which will be defined by the organization, led by the director of the University of Las Américas School of Journalism.

The jury will preselect a total of 12 works, 4 of each format, that will participate in the final selection of the festival.

The decision of the prequalification jury is final.

The official pre-selection will be announced on November 10, 2017, through the website.


6. FINAL SELECTION PROCESS

The pre-selected works will participate in the selection of the final winners of the contest. The winners will be chosen by a jury made up of 5 people linked to the world of cinema and audiovisual or linked to the academic or cultural area at the national level, which will be announced in the coming days.

Persons directly related to the works in competition will be disqualified from joining the jury. The organization UDLA Festoc establishes that jurors can declare any of the prizes deserted, if they so choose.

The jury will issue an unappealable ruling, granting the prizes indicated below:

Best film: UDLA Festoc 2017 Award.
Best Fiction Short Film.
Best Documentary Short Film.
Best Animated Short Film.

The winners of each category and the winner UDLA Festoc 2017 Prize will be known at the awards ceremony to be held at Universidad de Las Américas, on November 30, 2017.

7. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, RIGHTS OF USE, STORAGE AND REPRODUCTION

UDLA Festoc states that all intellectual property rights and use of the contents, images and texts published on the festival website belong to the author, according to Law No. 17.336, on Intellectual Property and its subsequent amendments, which regulates the right of author in Chile. In the same way, the participants in the festival declare that their inscribed works are original, of their own authorship, making themselves responsible for any claim, demand or complaint that has as a basis, direct or indirect, the recognition, in whole or in part, of the authorship of third parties.

All registered works can be displayed on the website and participate in audio-visual samples that can be made by the University of Las Américas, on the occasion of the development of the festival or at any later time, always with the purpose of promoting the audiovisual or the career category of the UDLA School of Journalism

When registering a work, the organization of the festival and the University of Las Américas are authorized to use it in press material, photography and trailers, for the promotion and dissemination of this event or any other future of similar nature.

By the mere fact of applying to these bases, the participants accept that the University of the Americas publish the material of press, photograph and trailers requested in the inscription form, to carry out the promotion of the same and the present contest, by any means of communication.

The representatives of the selected works authorize the production of the festival and the University of the Americas to publish the short films in promotional activities of the festival under the name of "Official Selection UDLA Festoc 2017".

UDLA Festoc and Universidad de Las Américas reserve the right to take decisions that it deems pertinent for those cases not provided for in these bases.
