The Peripheral Visions Festival is a pioneering and unique project in Brazil that expands the spectrum of perspectives on Brazilian peripheral spaces through film screenings and a project development laboratory. The 19th edition will be held in 2026, from March 3rd to 8th, 2026.
The theme and concept of the Peripheral Visions Festival are reflected in its very name. Each year, the Visões program seeks to reflect the aesthetic power and diversity present in Brazilian peripheral areas through the eyes of filmmakers who experience the daily lives of these geographic, social, and existential territories. These qualities are fostered both in the curation of the film screenings and in parallel activities, most notably the Visões Lab, an audiovisual project development laboratory.

In 2026, the Festival will take place in person and online in March.
General Rules:
1. The festival consists of competitive and thematic sections:
- Imaginary Frontiers (competitive): films up to 25 minutes long produced by independent filmmakers from all over Brazil.

- Panorâmica (competitive): films with a minimum length of 40 minutes (medium-length and feature-length films).
- Visorama (competitive): films up to 15 minutes long produced as part of audiovisual training projects for elementary, secondary, and/or third-sector projects.
FILMS MUST HAVE BEEN PRODUCED FROM SEPTEMBER 2024 ONWARDS
2. Each film must be submitted separately, even if the author wishes to submit other works.
3. There are no restrictions on film genres. Documentary, fictional, experimental, and other works may be submitted, provided they meet the time/size/resolution requirements and are in line with the proposed exhibition.
4. The filmmaker authorizes their film to be screened in the film club circuit if selected for the competitive exhibitions. The film club circuit is a partnership that brings the program to other locations and does not imply any commercial purpose.
5. Proponents authorize the Festival organizers and their sponsors to use excerpts from the submitted works, provided that they are for non-commercial exhibition purposes and for a period of one (1) year.
6. It is the sole, exclusive, and unrestricted responsibility of the proponent submitting the audiovisual work to the 2024 Peripheral Visions Festival to observe and regularize any and all issues related to copyright, related rights, and image rights involved in the submitted work. It is the sole responsibility of the proponent to obtain the necessary consent to use, broadcast, and make available the audiovisual work containing the name, image, works, and performances of third parties. The proponent must fully comply with current legislation and bear the corresponding payment, if applicable.
7. The applicant who registers his/her audiovisual work in the Visões Periféricas Festival 2026 hereby exempts the organization and sponsors of the project from any responsibilities related to copyright – patrimonial and moral –, related rights and image rights involved in the registered audiovisual work.
8. By submitting their work to this Festival, the filmmaker/applicant will be responsible for all mandatory registrations for temporary exhibitions at exhibitions and festivals, such as the Indicative Classification of the work with DEJUS (Ministry of Justice) and CPB (Brazilian Product Certificate) with ANCINE.
9. Any omissions in these Regulations will be decided by the Festival organizers.
10. The act of submission implies the applicant's automatic agreement with all provisions of these Regulations.
Film Selection
• The list of selected films will be announced by the Festival organizing committee in December 2025 on the Festival website.
• After the results are announced, screening copies of the selected films must be sent to the Festival organizers exclusively online.
• It is the sole responsibility of the filmmaker/applicant to submit high-quality screening copies.
Voting and awards
The official jury committee will select one film from each competitive section as the winner. The jury committee may also award honorable mentions to the remaining films, along with other awards that may be determined before the event. Each film will receive a trophy and an official Festival award.
