On May 22nd, a film festival will take place at the main auditorium of the Vila Real Municipal Theatre. The event will begin at 3:30 PM and will include talks by two Portuguese filmmakers, who will present some of their work and share their hands-on knowledge.

In addition, there will be an awards ceremony for the winners of the short film competition, previously selected by a jury.

Regulations

1. Eligibility Requirements
Anyone who holds the legal rights to the works submitted may apply. The individual or entity that signs the registration form will be considered by the Festival as the sole contact person for matters related to the participation of the photograph in the event, and as the sole party responsible towards any other individuals or companies involved in the production of said work.

2. Requirements
All photographs must be in JPEG format. Each participant may submit a maximum of 3 photographs, which will be exhibited during the festival and submitted to a public vote.

3. Registration

a. Registration deadline: May 15, 2025

b. Documents required to complete registration:

i. Online registration form completed on the platforms where the festival is registered, namely Festhome.
ii. The photographer and/or producer must send a file containing the following items:
a) A photo of the author (in JPEG format);
b) A short biography of the photographer;
c) A brief text contextualizing the photograph(s);

iii. A document, addressed and signed by the photographer, authorizing the dissemination of the material by the festival and clearly stating awareness and acceptance of this regulation.
iv. All of the above must be sent via email to: festivalcomunicarte@gmail.com
v. The subject of the email must include:
Photograph + Title of the work

4. Selection
All photographs will be exhibited at the Vila Real Municipal Theatre, starting on May 15 (subject to change) and ending on May 22 at 7:00 PM. Voting will be open to the public, and results will be announced during the awards ceremony.

5. Awards

a. No more than one prize may be awarded to the same author.
b. The prize amounts for the winners of the short film competition are:

1st Prize: €50
2nd Prize: €25
3rd Prize: €15

6. Selection Timeline
The results of the official selection will be announced during the ComunicArte Festival awards ceremony on May 22, 2025.

7. Promotion
For promotional and informational purposes related to the event, ComunicArte may publish information about the competing photographs on social media.

8. Post-Festival Screenings
Digital copies submitted for selection will not be returned and will become part of the ComunicArte archive. With prior notice to the author, ComunicArte reserves the right to exhibit the submitted photographs on future dates for promotional, educational, or cultural purposes related to the festival.

9. Additional Information
By registering for ComunicArte, all participants, agents, and representatives fully accept these regulations.

In the event of a breach of these regulations by any participant, or in the case of behavior that may affect the course of the event, the organization may cancel the participation of the related work.

The festival may establish additional rules and provisions deemed necessary for the better organization of the event. The interpretation of these rules and of any other related aspects will be the exclusive responsibility of the festival.

In case of dispute, the applicable rules will be those in force under Portuguese law.
