The International Silent Film Festival wants to celebrate the possibilities of cinema as an art of entertainment, education and emancipation of the public, reclaiming the narratives of glances, dramatic gestures, musical accompaniment and even the importance of intertitles for contemporary filmmakers to be inspired.

All selected films will receive an award of recognition in digital form, sponsored by prestigious cultural institutions.

We invite producers, directors, and the public in general to submit a short or feature film with the basic elements of Silent Films: Absence of dialogues and original or publicly owned score integrated. It is not necessary for submitted films to be presented in black and white, or with intertitles. Sound atmosphere does not necessarily have to be omitted.

Homages, parties, rituals and personal or collective memories represented in the material will be given preference in this call for entries.

-Films produced as of January 1, 2016, may participate until the closing of this calling.

-Applicants may submit more than one film (short and/or feature films).

-The registration for this festival is free.

-The registration deadline is set for July 31, 2017.

-All material should be sent as a VIMEO link with a password, or as a downloadable file to programacion.ficsilente@gmail.com
-All films that require subtitles should have them in Spanish.

-All applicants should also include
a) Database with technical specs: Title, country, production year, length, language, subtitles, color/B&W, cast & crew.
b) Synopsis in a max. of 5 lines (PDF).
c) 3 stills from the film. (300 dpi, at jpg or tiff).
d) A picture of the filmmaker (300 dpi, at jpg or tiff) with a brief bio/filmography.
e) Film trailer with direct link.
f) All films should be sent in NTSC format.
g) FIC-Silente may use fragments of the material for purposes of promotion and diffusion.
h) All selected films may be eligible for FIC-Silente showings outside the state or the country.
i) The jury will be integrated by filmmaking professionals.
j) The jury's decision will be unappealable.
