The Layar Lokal Film Festival (LLoFF) is an annual short film festival in Indonesia focused on the development, appreciation, and strengthening of the local film ecosystem. Initiated by the Sidoarjo Filmmakers Association (ASFIS) under the auspices of the Delta Citra Sinema Foundation, the festival has evolved from a regional appreciation space into a national-scale platform that bridges the works of independent filmmakers with the general public, while also bringing together various creative sectors such as art, culture, and tourism.
Theme & Spirit of the 7th Edition
The 7th Layar Lokal Film Festival (LLOFF 7) is a cinema event that consistently serves as an epicenter for appreciation, exhibition, and distribution for alternative cinematic works, particularly in East Java and Indonesia. Carrying the grand theme "Suara-suara Baru" (New Voices), this festival acts as a space for young filmmakers and fresh perspectives that dare to push the boundaries of conventional narrative. The festival is scheduled to take place over 4 days, from December 11-14, 2026, at Rumah Budaya Malik Ibrahim, Sidoarjo.
Below is an explanation of the programs included in LLoFF 7:
#Screening Programs
This program is divided into several competition and non-competition categories:
- Layar Delta (Competition): A specific competition category to appreciate the local uniqueness, issues, and filmmakers of the East Java region.
- Layar Nusantara (Competition): A national-scale short film competition category that captures the representation of contemporary Indonesian dynamics.
- Layar Asia (Competition): A regional Asia-level competition category that presents a variety of aesthetic and cultural perspectives from various countries in Asia.
- Layar Wani (Non-Competition): A screening program that curates selected short films with artistic courage and unique narrative exploration.
- Special Screening: A special screening of exclusive selected films outside of the festival's main competition program.
#Non-Screening Programs
In addition to film screenings, the festival provides educational and networking spaces for cinema enthusiasts:
- Camera Workshop: An educational technical class regarding cinematography and the utilization of the latest camera technology.
- Jatim Film Dialogue: A panel discussion space that maps the ecosystem, funding, and existence of local East Javanese cinema.
- Tamasya (Excursion): Informal networking activities between communities and delegates at selected destinations.
All of these activities are designed to create an intimate and sacred festival atmosphere, combining the historical-cultural values of Sidoarjo with the contemporary cinematic ideas brought by the participants.
