The Ainzón City Council (Zaragoza - Spain) announces the “Animainzón” National Animation Film Contest, aimed at creatives residing in Spanish territory. The final phase of the contest will take place within the framework of the XXIII Ainzón Film Days, to be held on October 23, 24, and 25, 2026.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
ESSENCE OF THE CONTEST. PARTICIPANTS. SUBMISSION AND PRESENTATION OF WORKS. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS AND DEADLINES.
The Animainzón Contest aims to give visibility to animation made in Spanish territory, both by creators born in Spain and residing in said territory, and by those who, being from other countries, are developing their audiovisual career in this country. It aims to be a window for authors in the field of animation from all areas, from amateurs to professionals, and from specialized training centers to production companies with solid track records.
Any person residing in Spain, without age limit, may submit their work to the contest. In the case of participants under 18 years of age, they must be represented by a person over 18. If deemed necessary, the contest organization may request proof of majority age and residence in Spain.
Works involving individuals or companies related to the organization, coordination, or sponsorship of the contest or the Film Days in which it is framed will not be accepted.
The contest consists of two sections: The School Jury Award Short Film Section and the Official Section. The contest organization will assign the short films selected as finalists to the section it considers most appropriate.
There is no limit to the number of works that can be submitted by each participant, individually or as a group. Submission can be made by any of the methods indicated below, and each work must be submitted in an independent file.
Works may be submitted to the contest via any of the following methods:
Through the platform:
Festhome: www.festhome.com
For “low-weight” works:
Via email attachment, along with the completed festival submission form, by sending an email to animainzon@gmail.com.
Each piece must be submitted in an independent file. For submissions outside of platforms, it is essential to send the completed contest submission form. This form can be downloaded from the contest blog at www.animainzon.blogspot.com. It can also be requested via email at animainzon@gmail.com or via WhatsApp at 630 183 280.
For submissions through online platforms, the form requested by each application must be completed. It is essential to provide a mobile phone number for the author or representative, reachable any day of the week.
Submitted works must be made using any animation method. Works requiring stereoscopic viewing will not be considered.
The most widely used file types will be accepted: mp4, ProRes, mov, etc. High resolutions are recommended for optimal projection on a big screen on the day of the public screening for finalists. In the case of works selected as finalists, the organization will require, if necessary, higher quality files (1080p and above) for optimal projection on a big screen.
The theme of the works is open, and the maximum duration allowed will be 10 minutes, including credits, if included (See First Selection Phase section).
Works with dialogue in a language other than Spanish must include corresponding Spanish subtitles, preferably in .srt format.
Works selected as finalists in past editions of this contest will not be considered.
The Festival will not pay any screening fees for the showing of short films.
Works completed before January 1, 2024, will not be considered.
The deadline for submitting works by any of the aforementioned methods ends on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 11:59 PM (peninsular time).
DEVELOPMENT OF THE CONTEST
First Selection Phase:
All short films submitted in accordance with these rules will enter this first phase. Works that best adapt to a single projection session for the official section will be selected as finalists, taking into account their theme, cinematic language, animation technique, image and audio quality, etc. Said finalist works will be screened in a public showing on the afternoon of October 24, 2026, at the Ainzón cinema. The start time will be announced once the event date approaches.
Likewise, a number of works to be determined will be selected for the school jury section, which will be screened on October 23, 2026, also taking into account the type of audience they are aimed at.
This contest does not hold online sessions.
Final Phase:
In the days prior to the public screening, authors of the selected works will be notified of their status as finalists for the official section and for the school jury section. For the official section, creators may present their work via video recording in the event that live attendance is not possible.
The following Contest Prizes will be awarded to the resulting finalist works:
OFFICIAL SECTION (WITH CASH PRIZE AND TROPHY):
First Jury Prize: endowed with an amount of 700 Euros (Seven Hundred Euros).
Second Jury Prize: endowed with an amount of 300 Euros (Three Hundred Euros).

SCHOOL JURY SECTION (NO CASH PRIZE, WITH ACCREDITING DIPLOMA AND TROPHY):
Unique Award: granted by vote of the students from schools in Ainzón and nearby towns (1 student – 1 ballot – 1 short film to vote for).
The Official Section Jury will be composed of 1 representative from the Ainzón Cine-Club Association (Zaragoza) and two representatives from the audiovisual/artistic/cultural sector designated by the Organizing Committee and the contest coordination. This jury will decide the first and second prizes from among the short films selected as finalists.
The Audience Award will be granted by the vote of the audience present in the room during the screening of the finalist works in the town of Ainzón, on October 24, 2026. Voting will be carried out using ballots (1 person – 1 ballot – 1 short film to vote for).
The jury's decision will be final and unappealable, and any prize or the entire set of prizes may be declared void.
