The Latin American Film Festival of Bordeaux, France, was born in 1983, aiming at promoting quality films not or little broadcasted in France.

It started at a time when Latin American Cinema was completely missing in French movie theaters. For some years now, we are glad to witness that Latin American Film production has greatly grown and entered distribution channels in Europe. However, our mission does not end, as Latin American films are still not present enough and the richness they offer makes us believe, every year, that our Festival has still a great mission to accomplish.

The Latin American Film Festival of Bordeaux, since it was created, has gathered more than 65.000 people, of all ages, rushing to meet our more than 2.500 professionals invited throughout our history (directors, producers, technicians, lecturers...), to attend to more than 100 concerts, art exhibitions, workshops... and to participate to more than 300 meetings and conferences, and unforgettable moments.

Rules and Guidelines for Competition Sections

Movies awarded receive a 1.000 Euros prize

I. Conditions for participation

1. Any movie whose director lives in Latin America or deals with one Latin American issue can participate.

2. All movies selected for competition to the Audience Awards and the Student Awards must have been of independent production.

Institutional or advertising documentaries or Fiction films are not accepted.

3. Minimum length : 45 minutes.

4. Production year : 2018-2021.

5. Original language : Spanish or Portuguese with French subtitles, or French.

6. We will also accept movies in native languages (Quechuan, Aymara, etc.) under the condition that there are French subtitles.

7. All copies of candidate movies, whether they are selected or not, will be part of the archives of the Bordeaux Latin American Film Festival and will not be sent back.

8. End date of Call for Films : November 30th, 2020.

9. All candidates will receive selection process results by email.

10. Selected movies directors will authorize France Amerique Latine Bordeaux-Gironde Committee to use images and extracts of their movies for press and Festival promotion purposes.

11. Selected movies directors will authorize France Amerique Latine Bordeaux-Gironde Committee to organize additional projection of their movie in the framework of projections organized by the association out of the Festival during 2021 and 2022.

12. Selected movies directors will be able to ask France Amerique Latine Bordeaux-Gironde Committee for a certificate of participation to the Bordeaux Latin American Festival.

13. When signing in, directors accept conditions of participation.

14. Once selected, no movie will be able to be withdrawn from competition or award.

III. For Selected Movies

o A projection copy. Format admitted :
DCP,HDD movie file, DV, HDV, Blu-ray, etc.

o Copies must be addressed with French subtitles.

o 6 photographs of the movie and one of Director (JPEG file, 300 DPI) by email and attachment file, in order to be published in the program, on the festival website and in the press.

o One printed poster or any other communication material will be welcome.
