Área de Contenção - Encontros Internacionais de Cinema Fantástico e de Horror do Cartaxo is a film festival happening in the city of Cartaxo, Portugal, from 6th to 8th of November.

This festival aims to promote the cultural and artistic values, namely, film and even encourage the taste for film and the arts in General, looking to study and discuss issues related to the theme of the fantastic and horror. The containment area still reserve a special audiovisual attention produced by Countries and Portuguese Expression Language and the region of Ribatejo.

This festival brings together the films in competition in various sections: feature film, short film, animation, documentary, music video, national, regional (where are included only films made in the region of Ribatejo) and student films.

In addition to a large selection of films in competition from the four corners of the world, the audience will have the opportunity to view, in Centro Cultural do Cartaxo, some of the great classics of Horror organized into retrospetivas and cycles.

Thinking about the younger audience, the containment area presents a very special section of short films of great for newer ones have the opportunity to participate in this festival.

Award and Diploma

1. RULES OF ELIGIBILITY

1.1.
The competitive section of ÁREA DE CONTENÇÃO 2015 - 2nd Cartaxo International Fantastic and Horror Film Festival that will be held in Cartaxo at the Cartaxo Cultural Center, from 6th to 8th November 2015, is open to all film and video makers, national or foreign.

1.2.
The primary objective of ÁREA DE CONTENÇÃO will be the promotion and development of cultural and artistic values, mainly in cinema, studying and debating the subjects connected with audiovisual and cinema and with the thematic of fantastic and horror.

ÁREA DE CONTENÇÃO was created by Área de Serviço together with the Ribatejo Film Commission, with the support of Cartaxo City Hall and Cartaxo Cultural Center, as a basis for the encounter for audiences and professionals (producers, directors, agents, writers, actors, etc). Working to represent and award, indie films, with innovative languages, techniques and narratives, supporting the future with our great masters.

1.3.
All entries must have been completed after January 1, 2013.

1.4.
Films and videos - feature films, short films, fiction or documentaries - may enter in the following categories:

I. FEATURE FILM
II. SHORT FILM
III. ANIMATION
IV. DOCUMENTARY
V. NATIONAL
VI. REGIONAL (films made in the Ribatejo Region)
VII. STUDENT FILMS

2. BluRay
3. Digital (Mp4, Avi)
For pre-selection we also accept films by other means (subject to the organization approval) such as transfer of files by ftp or providing a link where the film can be seen online.

2. SUBMISSIONS
2.1
All entries must use the form hereby included (xeroxes are accepted) and must be received by the Festival before September 05th, 2015. All entry forms should be filled-in carefully, in print characters, so that the information they contain can be correctly included in the catalogue.

2.2
There is no limit to the number of works entered by each candidate. A completely filled-in entry form must be sent for each film or video submitted. Each entry form should be accompanied by photos or slides of the film/video submitted, as well as a photo, curriculum and biographic notes of the director(s). Any promotional material will be welcome, to be used in press kits and promotion.

Films and videos must be subtitled in Portuguese or english language.

3.3
Films or videos competing for the National Prize are only accepted when spoken in portuguese (whenever possible with english subtitles), even when including other languages or dialects.
