The ExpoJoven Short Film Festival is an initiative organized by the Youth Department of the León City Council, whose objective is to promote young audiovisual talent and offer a space for exhibition and recognition to new creators. Through the screening of short films made by young filmmakers, the festival promotes creativity, artistic expression and cultural participation within the Leonese youth scene.

ExpoJoven Short Film Festival Awards – León City Council

The jury will award the following honorary prizes, consisting of a commemorative trophy and certificate:

Best Short Film Award ExpoJoven 2025
Given to the short film that stands out for its artistic, technical, and narrative quality.

Best Screenplay Award
Recognizes the highest quality in screenwriting, originality, and narrative coherence.

Best Director Award
Recognizes the best directing work, considering staging, narrative pacing, and direction of actors.

ExpoJoven Honorary Recognition – León City Council Youth Department
A special distinction awarded by the Department to an individual, group, or project that has contributed to the development of young audiovisual creation in León.

EXPOJOVEN SHORT FILM FESTIVAL RULES – LEÓN CITY COUNCIL

1. Purpose
The ExpoJoven Short Film Festival, organized by the Youth Department of the León City Council, aims to promote audiovisual creativity among young people and provide a platform for showcasing emerging film talent.

2. Participants
Young people between the ages of 0 and 35, born or residing in the province of León or the Castile and León region, as well as students or members of youth groups connected to the city, are eligible to participate.

3. Submissions

Each participant may submit a maximum of two short films.

The duration may not exceed 15 minutes (including credits).

Short films may be fiction, documentary, animation, or experimental.

Works in any language will be accepted, provided they include Spanish subtitles.

Works must be original and must not have won awards in previous editions of this festival.

4. Submission Format

Short films must be submitted digitally (.mp4 or .mov) via a download link or online platform (WeTransfer, Drive, Vimeo, etc.).

A technical and artistic information sheet, a brief synopsis, and a representative still must be included.

5. Entries
The registration and submission period will be open from [start date] to [closing date]. Submissions received outside of this period will not be accepted.

6. Selection and Jury
A jury composed of audiovisual professionals and representatives from the Youth Department will select the finalists and award the prizes.
The jury's decision is final.

7. Screening and Awards
The selected short films will be screened publicly during the ExpoJoven Short Film Festival, as part of the ExpoJoven fair.

8. Usage Rights
The organization may use excerpts or stills from the submitted works for promotional or educational purposes, always citing the author and for non-commercial purposes.

9. Acceptance
Participation in the festival implies full acceptance of these rules. Any unforeseen issues will be resolved by the organization.
