The SubFilmFest aims to attract an Albanian, Mediterranean and Global audience from film, anthropology, marine culture and biology students as well as all parties with an interest in the Coastal Zone. Apart from an educational purpose the Festival aims at creating a pool of people that will eventually produce culture, research and creative products related to the Coastal Zone.
The festival will be primarily "anchored" in the Velipoja beach, in northern Albania from the 25th of July to the 29th of July. Velipoja is well known for its diverse landscape as well as the smell of iodine from it's curative sand, which makes it a unique beach in the Albanian Coast. Velipoje is also considered the place where the Albanian Coast begins. Because of the inmmense attention the southern beaches have acquired in the last decade, Velipoje could become its cultural counterpart in the northern area. The beach will be subjected to minimal changes for the accommodation of the festival with eco-friendly structures and interventions. Parallel to the screenings the film festival will include discussions and workshops as well as cultural, leisure and gastronomic events and purchasable services that will enrich the Coastal Zone experience.
This year the festival will not be a competitive festival just a showcase of works that deal with coastal and marine issues.
Films in the genres of fiction, documentary, experimental and animation will be shown several times throughout the duration of the festival; in the Film Festival, in the Summer Cinemas and in the AutoKino. The purpose of this three dimensional, system is the reach of a high visibility from a diverse audience, while sparking the interest of local and international students and professionals to partake in the SubFilmFest.

THE FILM FESTIVAL

THE SUMMER CINEMAS:
All films screened during the festival will be shown in the next ten days following the festival, from the 1st to the 10th of August, in one of the seven Albanian coastal destinations: Velipoja, Durrës, Golem, Vlorë, Orikum, Dhërmi, Saranda in the format of the open summer cinemas.
THE AUTOKINO
There will be another screening of all films selected in the festival during the Automobile Cinema project called AutoKino also from the 1st of August to the 10th of August. The AutoKino, an event practiced in the past in Albania, is a mobile truck that would take the films to the audiences of the beaches and urban centers close to the coast that do not have summer cinemas.
ENTRY RULES AND REGULATIONS
Entries are invited to take part in the competition in feature and short Films in the following categories: Fiction, Animation, Documentary and Experimental. By entering a film in the SubFilmFest, the Filmmaker gives permission for his/her work to be screened in the three stages of the festival: The Film Fest, the Summer Cinema and the AutoKino between the dates 25th of July and 10th of August 2014.
LANGUAGE AND SUBTITLES
All English, non-‐English and Albanian language films must be submitted with the dialogue list in the English language. All films must be clean of subtitles except Albanian films that must be submitted with English subtitles.
Films chosen for competition will be translated and subtitled into Albanian from the SubFilmFest team based on the English dialogue list sent by the film-maker. English language films will be shown with Albanian subtitles during the festival. Non‐English films will be shown in English subtitles during the festival, but with Albanian subtitles during the summer cinemas and the AutoKino. Films in the Albanian language must be submitted with English subtitles.
CONDITIONS
Films submitted through Festhome must be compliant with Festhome´s technical requirements.
All participants will be notified via e-‐mail approximately beginning of July 2014 whether they have been selected in the SubFilmFest. The SUBFILMFEST will send it to the next destination within four weeks after the SUBFILMFEST (July 25 ‐ August 10, 2014).
There is no entry fee.
PROMOTION AND PUBLICITY
For the purposes of publicity all entries agree that up to three minutes of the selected films may be used by the SUBFILMFEST for promotional activities. Up to three minutes of the competing films may be shown on the SubFilmFest website (without the possibility of downloading).
All films must be submitted within July 1st, 2014.
