“Film-making is a chance to live many lifetimes.” - Robert Altman

Get Reel is a film festival that aims to uncover the greatest new film-making talent, in Australia and New Zealand, by asking entrants to produce a film, less than 10 minutes in length, responding to a specific theme. The festival promotes creativity and has attracted over 1,650 to date. This year's theme will be Time to Talk.

In 2016, the theme for the festival was Being Seen. After whittling down all of the entries over 180 attendees enjoyed the Top Ten films, as voted for by our film industry judging panel including Andrew Morley, Danielle Cormack, Jessica Grace Smith and Socratis Otto, at a Grand Final screening.

The Top Ten finalist screening provided a thought provoking night of entertainment with all funds raised going to Suicide Prevention Australia.

The following information describing how to enter, and prizes, forms part of the Terms and
Conditions of entry to the Get Reel 2017: Top Ten Filmmakers Festival (Festival). By entering the Festival each Entrant agrees to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

2. ORGANISER
The Organiser of the Festival is The Official Top Ten Night (ABN 91 325 628 359) of 20 Stamford Avenue, Ermington, NSW 2115, AUSTRALIA (Organiser). Mountain Street, Ultimo, NSW, 2007, AUSTRALIA (Organiser). Proceeds will be donated by the Organiser to Suicide Prevention Australia.

3. ENTRY
Entry is open to all amateur and professional filmmakers who are Australian Citizens or hold
Australian residency for tax purposes. The entrant must be the creator of each film entered. All entries must be no longer than 10 minutes. If entry is found to not adhere to this, then the entry will not be included in the festival. If an Entrant is under 18 years of age, he or she must provide written authority signed by a parent or guardian. This should be provided, as a scanned copy, at the
time of submission. Employees (and their immediate families) of the Organiser are ineligible to enter. Entrants may enter as many films as they choose. To enter, Entrants must have completed the Registration form on our website, and then send their submission via Google Drive, Dropbox, WeShare, or equivalent, to info@officialtoptennight.com clearly stating the name of the song, and
the entrants details. Entries should be in as high a resolution as possible. Please note that entrants are liable for their own travel expenses, if required to attend the Grand Final.
It is so important to talk openly and safely about suicide but, it can bring up difficult emotions. If being involved in this festival triggers tough stuff for you, please talk about how you’re feeling with a trusted family member, friend or people at one of Suicide Prevention Australia’s partner organisations. Visit www.communitiesmatter.com.au for a range of useful contacts including 24/7
crisis support contact information if you need immediate help for yourself or someone you know.

4. ENTRY MATERIALS
It is the Entrant's responsibility to ensure that the recording submitted in respect of each entered film is complete and playable. The Organiser is not responsible for late, lost, misdirected, stolen, or misappropriated entries. All entry materials submitted will not be returned to the Entrant. Copies of
entry materials may be retained by the Organiser strictly for promotional purposes in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. Otherwise, all entry materials will be destroyed after the Winner is announced.

5. CLOSING DATE
All entries must be received online no later than 11.59pm on Friday 28th April 2017. The Organiser accepts no responsibility for any changes in the Festival starting and closing dates.

6. COPYRIGHT
Only material in which the entrant currently has full copyright may be entered in this Contest. The entrant implies that they have full copyright by the act of entering the Contest. Entrants guarantee to indemnify the Contest organisers against any claim or loss resulting from noncompliance with copyright laws. Entrants’ copyright in entry materials is not affected by entering the Contest.

7. INDEMNITY
All entries submitted must be original films and shall not infringe any copyrights or any other rights of any third parties. In particular, the Entrant warrants that he or she has obtained the written permission from any co-writer or publisher controlling any rights in the entered film. The Entrant shall, by entering, indemnify and hold the Organiser harmless from and against any claims inconsistent with the foregoing. The Entrant acknowledges that all films entered may be distributed
to the judges panel who will be helping to select the Winner, and the Entrant agrees to release,
indemnify, and hold the Organiser and judges harmless for any liability, damages, or claims for injury or loss to any person or property relating to, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, participation in the Festival.

8. ACCURACY
Accuracy of entry information is entirely the responsibility of the entrant. The Official Top Ten Night cannot be held responsible for omissions or mistakes.

9. CO-WRITERS
The names of all contributing writers, producers and/or contributors must be included when submitting the entry. It is the responsibility of the entrant to divide any prizes accordingly, as appropriate.

10. PROMOTIONAL USE
By entering, the Entrant agrees that entry materials may be used by The Official Top Ten Night for promotional purposes. This includes such things as placing the Top Ten films on the TOTTN website, production of compilation DVDs and reproduction of quotes in possible radio, television and website broadcasts.

11. JUDGING
The Official Top Ten Night watching Committee will have final discretion in all matters. All entries are judged in the preliminary round by at least 3 judges, prior to their selection as Top 100 filmmakers. The Top 100 are judged by a fresh set of film industry professionals to determine the Top Ten Finalists. The same set of film industry professionals, along with the audience, at the Final, will determine the Winner, who will be announced at the Final.
Entries will be judged equally on creativity, direction, originality, script, structure and relevance to the theme. Appropriate language must be used. That is, adherence to the Mindframe National Media Initiative guidance on safe reporting and portrayal of suicide. There are no specific guidelines for the
film but the language guide, and recommendation around no mention of method of suicide, is a must. Films should be subtitled if created in another language other than English. Production value
and quality of acting will not be considered.
The judging committee will not be in a position to provide Entrants with feedback or a critique in relation to entered films. The judging committee's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. The Official Top Ten Night chooses the judges but is not responsible for their decisions.

12. NOTIFICATION OF RESULTS
Those who are shortlisted for the Top 100 will receive an email notifying them of this achievement, and can find out through social media and on the TOTTN website. Those who proceed to the Top Ten will also be announced in the same manner. The Top Ten finalists will be honoured on stage at the final.

13. WINNER
The Organiser will use its best endeavours to announce the Winner by no later than Sunday 18th June 2017, but will not be held liable for any unforeseen delays in the judging process. The Winner will be required to sign a statutory declaration confirming that Winner's film is original, that the film does not infringe any copyrights or any other rights of any third parties, and that all necessary permissions to enter the film have been obtained. Failure to sign and return the statutory declaration within the required time period or provision of false information may result in
disqualification and an alternate winner may be selected.
