To participate in this competition, all films must meet the following requirements. By submitting a film for consideration, the filmmaker accepts all of the terms and conditions in full.

1) This competition is open to everyone, from any country.

2) There is no limit to the number of films a particular filmmaker may submit.

3) We prefer films completed within the last two years.

4) Previously-submitted films may be re-submitted if, 1) They have been substantially revised since their last (most recent) submission and, 2) they have not previously won any awards in previous editions of the LAIFA

5) Films of various lengths are allowed to enter the competition, all the way up to a maximum of three hours.

6) Please verify the exact length of your film/file, including bumpers, head credits, closing credits, etc.; and register into the appropriate category. Improperly submitted films may be disqualified. In such instances, submission fees will not be returned.

7) All dialogue must either be spoken in SPANISH, or the film must have SPANISH subtitles hard-coded into the film.

8) Films submitted to the LAIFA may be shot in any format.

9) Only the Producer(s) and/or Director may submit a film for consideration. The submitter hereby certifies that they possess the right(s) and all of the proper clearances to submit the film, including, but not limited to image rights, talent releases, and soundtrack and/or source music releases; and assumes all responsibility for their material. LAIFA accepts no responsibility, financial or otherwise, for any film submitted to the festival. All entries to the LAIFA are adjudicated by film professionals who have multiple projects in the works, and may have many film ideas. By submitting an entry, the filmmaker(s) recognizes that members of the Official Jury may have similar ideas and absolves LAIFA and the Official Jury from any liability associated with his/her/their participation in this competition.

10) The Official Jury will evaluate the script or screenplay, producing, directing, acting, technical, and artistic merits of each submission.

11) LAIFA only accepts online screeners. Please submit screeners via Festhome.com and keep contact information updated.

12) The submitter grants LAIFA the right to use clips, the film’s trailer, and/or other materials (such as the poster) for promotional purposes, in perpetuity, without any further consideration, and accepts sole responsibility for the use of all materials.

13) All decisions made by the Selection Committee and Official Jury are considered final and incontestable. LAIFA reserves the right to grant additional awards if deemed appropriate, and to not present all of the awards listed if the Official Jury determines that 1) none of the entries received meet LAIFA’s high standards, and/or 2) too few submissions are received to properly adjudicate a category.

14) All prizes are personal and non-transferable. All Official Selections, nominees, and winners will receive an award certificate in electronic (PDF) format celebrating their achievements, and laurels to include on their film and personal promotional materials. Rather than spreading the cost trophies among all entrants up front, physical trophies may be purchased by winners for an additional fee, if desired. By submitting a film as an entry, filmmakers agree that if they are named as Official Selections, nominees, or win one or more awards, they will include the LAIFA laurels on the promotional materials for their film and on their personal resumes on a go-forward basis.

15) LAIFA results will be made public at the conclusion of adjudication, and the results made available via press release.

16) LAIFA reserves the right to add, modify, or discard terms and conditions, if needed, as needed, at its sole discretion, with or without notification. It further reserves the right to make decisions to address anomalies and/or unforeseen circumstances, including, but not limited to removing a film from consideration, at its sole discretion, without providing an explanation. Additionally, Entries are accepted only through Festhome.com. User accepts all risk and responsibility for using this website, Festhome, and Festhome's transaction processor.

17) Registration/submission indicates the filmmaker(s) acceptance of all of the terms and conditions herein, in their entirety, without modification.

Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
