The Moscow International Fantastic Film Festival (MIFFF) will be held March 2016 in Moscow. MIFFF has a competitive nature and it is open to short films that deal with science fiction or fantasy themes of all kinds, including animation, videoclips, experimental, fake trailers etc.

The Moscow International Fantastic Film Festival is the first sci-fi festival in Russia. MIFFF showcases the latest in science fiction, fantasy, and horror, and hosts a number of parties and special events.

The Moscow International Fantastic Film Festival (MIFFF) will be held March 2016 in Moscow. MIFFF has a competitive nature and it is open to short films that deal with science fiction or fantasy themes of all kinds, including animation, videoclips, experimental, fake trailers etc.

The Moscow International Fantastic Film Festival is the first sci-fi festival in Russia. MIFFF showcases the latest in science fiction, fantasy, and horror, and hosts a number of parties and special events.

Submitting is easy. We accept secure online screeners on Vimeo, preferably with the Festhome submissions. Deadline for entries is January 31, 2016. The submission is free. All films submitted must be available for exhibition in one of the following formats: unencrypted DCP or as full HD digital file (mov, mp4).


Eligibility of short films:


1. The theme must be science fiction or fantasy.


2. Runtime less than 30 minutes.


3. Made after January 1, 2013.


4. Films in a language other than English must be subtitled in English.


5. Works-in-progress are not accepted.


6. All films must be submitted to the Film Festival by January 31, 2016.

The films selected for competition will be screened publicly during the festival, being understood that the authors or producers authorize the projection. The films will be not published on web.

The organization of the MIFFF reserves the right to use images from films selected in Festival marketing purposes (web, print media, and television).

Films at competition will be eligible for the following awards:

Best Short
Best Animated Short
Best Russian Short

The jury's decision will be announced during the closing ceremony of the festival. If deemed appropriate, the jury will grant honorable mentions.
