Rural FilmFest, member of Green Film Network (GFN), is an international itinerant film festival, which offers a current overview of international documentary film, fiction and animation in a short, medium and long format related to the rural world, ecology, sustainability and natural and cultural resources. Rural FilmFest is not a common film festival, it is a unique and unrepeatable event. It is a summer camp, with excursions, multi-adventure, geocaching awards ceremony (Yes, you read that right. As a filmmaker you will have to find your trophy at the closing gala via GPS coordinates), international coexistence, dance, party and lifelong friendships. It is the experience of your life and if you attend, you will not want it goes over and you will want to return next year... Just read the reviews to discover the opinions of other filmmakers who have attended the Rural FilmFest. If you have a fiction film, animation or documentary whether it is a short film or a feature film, do not hesitate to submit.

Exhibiting filmmakers receive accommodation during all the festival for two persons and they will personally present their work to the audience and enjoy the full festival activities.

To participate:

You have a film.

No matter where you come from. The Festival is open to filmmakers from all over the world.

You can submit as many films as you wish. It is not a problem if the films have been previously screened, shown on the Internet or in other festivals.

The films may be in Spanish or in any other language with Spanish subtitles. For the SELECTION process are not necessary Spanish subtitles but if your film is selected we will ask you Spanish subtitles for the public screening.

The organization can use pieces from the selected films (10% maximum) to promote them and the festival. Selected films of Rural FilmFest will become part of "Rural FilmFest Tour" besides being able to participate in any of the activities constituting Rural FilmFest. Authors will be informed in advance of each event.

Competition Categories:

- EcoFilms: Fiction, animation and documentary films, in which the central theme is related to ecology, nature and everything that has to do with the rural world.

​- RuralFicción: free themed films.

- Rural Kids: Films for children.​

- Valencian film: Prize for the best Valencian film for those born or resident in the Valencian Community.

- Mediterranean Palm Grove: Films related to the palm grove. That deal with a wide range of themes such as uses, tradition, culture, trades, water, heritage, conservation, agriculture or sustainability.

Running time:

The short films may not run over 25 minutes.
The medium films from 25 to 45 minutes.
The feature films longer than 45 minutes.

Format:

All of the submitted films can participate, no matter the format. The screening will be from a digital file (participants will be informed about the format needed for the screening with time enough).

The organization reserves the right to accept a film, if it is not sent within the registration period together with all the necessary documents.

The authors, producers or owners of the rights of the works, give specifically the rights of exhibition for the realization of the screenings in the programmes of the different sections in which they have been selected in Rural FilmFest.

Once the films have been received, and until the deadline, the organization will select those taking part in the competition and will inform the selected participants.

Registration implies acceptance of all the regulations. All fees are non-refundable. We are not able to pay a screening fees. Any other issue which is not included here will be sorted by the RFF 2025 organisation.
