Alexandria Mediterranean Countries International Film Festival is an annual event held in Alexandria, Egypt. It aims to disseminate film culture and the progress achieved in various branches of film art and to strength the relations among filmmakers throughout the world in general and Mediterranean countries in particular.

Regulations
Item (1)
Alexandria Mediterranean Countries International Film Festival is an annual event held in Alexandria, Egypt. It aims to disseminate film culture and the progress achieved in various branches of film art and to strength the relations among filmmakers throughout the world in general and the Mediterranean countries in particular.
Item (2)
The Egyptian Association for Film Writers and Critics organizes the festival under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Information and Ministry of Tourism, in cooperation with the Alexandria Governorate in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Item (3)
The 33rd edition of the festival will be held in the period from 7 to 12 ofOctober2017.
Item (4)
Alexandria Mediterranean Countries International Film Festival include the following sections:
(A) Competitions
Official Section
I: Official Competition for Long Films of Mediterranean Countries:
(Long Narratives and Long Documentaries are accepted).
Rules:
1- All entries must be long films produced wholly or partially by a Mediterranean country during the years of 2016 or 2017.
2- Films must not have been screened commercially in Egyptian cinemas prior to the festival period.
3- Participating films must have English subtitles
Awards given in this competition:
1. Best Film.
2. Special Jury Prize.
3. Youssef Chahine Prize for Best Director.
4. Naguib Mahfouz Prize for Best Screenplay.
5. Omar Sharif Prize for Best Actor.
6. FatenHamama Prize for Best Actress.

II: Official Short Film Competition of Mediterranean Countries (Short Narratives and Short Documentaries are accepted).
Rules:
1- All entries must be long films produced wholly or partially by a Mediterranean country during the years of 2016 or 2017.
2- Films must not have been screened commercially in Egyptian cinemas prior to the festival period.
3- Participating films must have English subtitles
4- Short narrative’s runtime must not exceed 30 minutes.
5- Shot documentary’s runtime must not exceed 30 minutes.
Awards given in this competition:
1. Best Short Narrative Film
2. Best Short Documentary Film
3. Special Jury Prize (Awarded to a Short Narrative anda Short Documentary)
Non-Official Section
III: Nour al-Sherif Competition for Long Narratives and Documentaries from the Arab Mediterranean Countries
Rules:
Participating films must be partially of wholly produced by the Arab Mediterranean Countries (Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria)
Participating films must not have been screened commercially in Egyptian cinemas prior to the festival period.
3-Participating films must be 2016 or 2017 production

Out of Competition
Panorama of documentaries from the Mediterranean countries
This section is limited to the participation of distinguished documentaries from the Mediterranean countries that may have already participated or won prizes in international festivals.
Item (5)
First: Jury of Mediterranean Competition
• Committee is composed of eminent personalities in the field of cinema on the international level.
• Committee will consist of seven members, including its president, and can be including two from Egypt, determined by the festival
• The selection of the members of the Committee is limited on the festival management only
• Any member of this committee should not have any relationship with films screened in the competition
Second: juries of other competitions
The festival management determines the number of members of each committee, and their names
Item (6)
General conditions for participation in the festival sections
1. The festival films are accepted by the original copy of DCP or BLUE RAY.
2. Films must be accompanied by English translation
Participating in the festival is by filling out the whole application form
With the application, a DVD screener of the film with promotional material.
Sending a screener and promotional materials of the film to the secretariat of the festival, should be no later than July 31, 2017.
Item (7)
Advertising materials
The necessary publicity materials for the film include:
1. Film synopsis in English.
2. Biography of the film’s director list of cast and crew.
3. Press or promotional brochure for the film.
4. Photo on CDs
5. Lobby Stills 20 cm X 25 cm.
6. Film posters of 70 cm X 100 cm
7. TV clip of 3 minutes at maximum
Item (8)
Films selected to participate in different sections of the festival are determined by a viewing committees selected by the festival management from critics and filmmakers.
Item (9)
Governorate of Alexandria or any of the Egyptian or foreign associations, grant awards or certificates of appreciation to the festival’s films, according to its own vision, as well as institutions or local or foreign companies can award cash prizes for any winning film along with the festival awards.
Item (10)
Selected films should not be screened at other events during the edition
Item (11)
Films are shown two times as maximum, during the festival period.
Item (12)
Sending films to the secretariat of the festival at the expense of the distributor, and returned to him by air freight at the expense of the festival within fifteen days from the end of the festival, as the festival management covers all customs fees, insurance costs on films, internal storage and transfer fees.
Item (13)
The film print is insured by the festival since its arrival to Cairo International Airport until it returns to its owners, and the festival assumes full responsibility in case of loss or damage to its version.

Sending DVDs and promotional materials along with application forms to the selection committee then the final screening prints at the following address:

Item (15)
This regulation was issued in Arabic and translated into languages: English, French. In the case of a difference of interpretation, the reference is to the Arabic version. President of the festival is authorized to determine all matters unclear or not covered.
Item (16)
Participation in the festival implies full agreement to all the items of this regulation including 16 items.
