RULES FOR THE “CON ACENTO 2026” SHORT AND FEATURE FILM COMPETITION
The Jerez Association of Performing and Audiovisual Arts and El Espejo Producciones, with the support of the Jerez City Council and the Cádiz Provincial Council, announce the Jerez “Con Acento 2026” SHORT AND FEATURE FILM COMPETITION.
1. PARTICIPANTS
All short and feature films that meet the following requirements are eligible:
• Release date in 2025 or later. The possibility of a premiere or preview at the Festival will be considered an asset.
• Presence of the Andalusian “accent.”
• Must have been filmed in Andalusia. Except for films competing for the “without borders” award, which may have been filmed in any country of the European Union.
• The authors will be responsible for the rights to their works.
• To promote inclusion, submissions with Spanish subtitles will be considered an asset.
• Stories that promote values contributing to a better society will be viewed favorably.
• In the case of “fiction and animated short films”, the duration must be less than 20 minutes. The “documentary short film” may be up to 30 minutes long.
• Submitted short films must fall into one of the following categories: fiction, animation, or documentary.
• Submitted feature films must fall into one of the following categories: fiction or documentary.
• Productions submitted in previous editions are not eligible.
• Special cases:
• Films competing for the "Without Borders" award must have been filmed in a European Union country and must be submitted in their original version with Spanish subtitles.
Audiovisual productions filmed in Jerez de la Frontera whose central theme is linked to gastronomy, highlighting culinary culture as an artistic and narrative expression, are eligible for the Jerez Gastronomic Capital 2026 award. (*In the case of this specific award, productions may have been filmed in previous years.)
2. REGISTRATION
Start date: March 10, 2026
Registration deadline: May 31, 2026

Contact information for official communications* (full name, telephone number, and email address) *If official communications are sent and no response is received within one week, the production will be excluded from the competition.
Feature film/short film in digital format.
3. DATE AND VENUE
The 2026 edition of the "Con Acento" Short and Feature Film Competition will be held in Jerez de la Frontera as part of the 4th Con Acento Film Festival, which will take place from October 13 to 17, 2026.
4. SELECTION
A committee appointed by the Festival Organization will select the finalist works to be screened. The selection committee's decision is final. The list of finalist short and feature films will be published on July 3, 2026, on the Instagram profile @festivaldecineconacento and on the website www.festivaldecineconacento.com. The directors of the participating short and feature films will be notified of their selection beforehand by telephone or via the email address used for registration. Those selected as finalists agree to deliver to the Festival Organization a high-quality projection copy subtitled in Spanish and another copy without subtitles before September 13.
5. SCREENING AND AWARDS
The selected short and feature films will be screened during the Festival in public sessions at the venues, times, and dates specified in the official Festival program. For these public screenings, the selected films will grant the Festival the exhibition rights free of charge.
The awards will be announced at the Closing Gala at the Villamarta Theatre in Jerez on October 17, 2026.

JEREZ GASTRONOMIC CAPITAL 2026 SPECIAL AWARD
short films, films and documentaries: €1,500
The awards will be granted by a jury selected by the Festival Organization, comprised of representatives from the audiovisual and cultural sectors. The jury's decision will be final.
Winners will include a descriptive caption for the award alongside the Jerez Film Festival "with an Accent" logo (provided by the Festival) at the beginning of their short/feature film for screenings at festivals, theaters, and competitions.
The Festival reserves the right to add more awards during the call for entries.
6. ACCEPTANCE AND PAYMENT OF PRIZES
Payment of prizes is subject to current Spanish tax regulations. From the closing date of the event, the Festival will send the winners a notification (via email) requesting the necessary documentation to process the prize payment. The Festival Organization will process the payment of prizes approximately 90 days after the Festival. The documentation required for processing the payment is as follows:
• Copy of the identity document or passport of the person responsible for the production.
• IBAN code of the bank account designated for the payment.
Once the notification of the prize received and the request for the aforementioned documents have been sent, the winners will have 10 days to send their acceptance of the prize and the required documentation. After this period, if this requirement is not met, the prize will be considered declined. Once payment has been received, the winners agree to send a signed receipt for the prize (the template will be provided by the Festival).
7. ARCHIVE
The short and feature films received will become part of the Festival's audiovisual archive, intended for non-profit audiovisual dissemination, and always for promotional, cultural, and/or educational purposes.
The Festival will request permission from participants before scheduling the screening of their works in non-official Festival sections, and will accept their decision.
8. ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES
Registration implies acceptance of these rules, as well as the decisions of the Organization and Selection Committee. Any matter not covered by these rules will be resolved by the Festival Organization.
The Festival Organization reserves the right to change any of these rules if necessary.
