Directed by Women Spain is a film viewing celebration of films directed by women in Spain.

Our celebration is part of the International movement Directed by Women, that for the past 9 years has been dedicated to promote and give visibility to films directed by Women.

Cineteca of Madrid and the CICUS of Seville are hosting the tenth edition with a complete program of short film sessions, feature films, unseen documentaries, sessions for young audiences and children. Filmmakers will be invited to present their pieces to the public and to participate in a Q&A.

There will also be debates, professional gatherings, workshops and a lot of celebration!

Directed by Women Spain is looking for short and feature films directed by SPANISH WOMEN or RESIDENT IN SPAIN, without a limit of duration, theme or year of production.

Filmmakers can be presented short films and feature films directed by a woman or co-directed by a woman and a man.

In case your work is selected, we will contact you to send us the registration form (which we will send you previously) and a wetransfer or similar, with the HD version of your short film.

REQUIREMENTS

PARTICIPATION
May participate directors of Spanish nationality, live or not in Spain, and directors of foreign nationality whose country of residence is Spain.

Filmmakers can be presented short films and feature films directed by a woman or co-directed by a woman and a man.

The number of works that each filmmaker can submit to the contest is unlimited and the films do not have to be unpublished.

It is not exclusive participation in the 2021 edition having participated and/or having been part of the programming of previous editions.

DURATION
There is no time limitation.

LANGUAGE
For short films to be viewed by as many people as possible, it is recommended that they be subtitled:
If the short film is in Spanish, it must include subtitles in english.
If the short film is english, it must include subtitles in Spanish.
If the short film is in any other language it must include subtitles in Spanish.

PARTICIPATION PERIOD
The call begins on May 21, 2024 and will end on July 07, 2024 at 23:59, Spanish peninsular time.
