Welcome to LIMA SHORTS FESTIVAL

Our mission is to discover talented filmmakers from all over the world and help them promote and showcase their work.

Lima Shorts Festival is a festival dedicated to international short films, aiming to find new voices and perspectives to celebrate the power of a good story. We are committed to bring the best of worldwide cinema.

We are located in Lima, Peru. An important city of the growing film industry in South America, hand in hand with the warrior filmmakers who fight to make a film on our continent.
In the last decade, their directors have stepped up, creating a powerful and pungent body of work that is moving out into the wider world.

Ideal for a new generation of brilliant film directors to attract international interest.

Our professional screeners will privately review your film and the highest scored films will become part of the official selection. Then, our jury will award the best projects among them. All of them will receive the official laurel.

We will also be awarding the Best Short and the Best Director of the year with a prize of USD 100. Winner announcements will be released on June 2021 through our social media to help promote your film.

1. Each submitting short should be a maximum of 20 minutes in length. If you're unable to honour this length in your finished cut, please re-edit to the approved running time of this festival.

2. All fees are non-refundable.

3. We invite short films with a duration of up to 20 minutes which have been finished after January 1th 2018 and each short film must be registered in the following categories specifically: (Narrative Short, Animated Short, Experimental Short, LGBTQ Short Film, Short Documentary, Student Short and Music Video). Each submission may have sound (or no dialogue/sound), and be presented in either black & white or colour.

4. Have the short film uploaded to the platform in Filmfreeway, in any case have the youtube or vimeo link in a pdf that could be the Press Kit.

5. Each short does not have to be a ‘World Premiere' (i.e previously not in competition or exhibited at any film festival, in years prior to 2020).

6. Each submitting filmmaker hereby warrants and guarantees that they legally own all copyrights to their work and the work of others, when submitting projects to the festival.

7. Students must present a valid Student ID in order to receive our student discount.

8. Not all the submissions are selected for the official competition. Our Judges are free to make their own choices and no answers will be given about not selected films.

9. If selected, An email will be sent in which you must send the short film in H264 format or guarantee the approval of the download by this platform.

10. Submmitter will be required to submit the press kit with the director's bio, headshot and director statement, accompanying their submission. Initial submissions may choose to include a trailer & poster, with their entry, although this is not mandatory.

14- Submitting your movie, you authorize Lima Shorts Festival to use, distribute and share the film poster, trailer, synopsis and movie stills in our social media.

11. Non-Spanish language films are permitted but must include English language subtitles in the final edit.

13. This is a virtual festival and all you need to view the selected short films is a smartphone or a computer!
