Kinetic Frames is a dance-on-film showcase, and mentorship initiative designed to support youth, emerging, and professional artists in exploring movement through film.
The program emphasizes accessibility, interdisciplinary collaboration, and creative storytelling through screen dance.
Awards
- Awards will be determined by the festival jury unless otherwise stated.
- Audience awards will be determined through audience voting where applicable.
- Judges' decisions are final.
Dance Film Festival Rules & Regulations
1. Eligibility
- The festival is open to filmmakers, dancers, choreographers, and creative teams who are residents of Saskatchewan.
- Films must be submitted by the stated submission deadline.
- Entrants must have the legal right to submit the film and all materials included in it.
2. Film Requirements
- Films must prominently feature movement as a central artistic element.
- All dance styles are welcome unless otherwise specified by the festival.
- Maximum running time: 3 minutes (including credits).
- Films must be submitted by November 23, 2026.
- Films must be submitted in a digital format (MP4 or MOV recommended).
3. Original Work
- Submitted films must be the original work of the entrant(s).
- Any copyrighted music, choreography, footage, photographs, or other materials must be properly licensed or used with written permission.
- The festival is not responsible for copyright infringement committed by entrants.
4. Content Guidelines
- Films must not contain hateful, discriminatory, or illegal content.
- Excessive violence, explicit sexual content, or material that promotes harm may result in disqualification.
- The festival reserves the right to determine whether a submission is appropriate for public screening.
5. Submission
- Once submitted, films may not be withdrawn after the official selection process has begun.
- The festival is not responsible for incomplete or corrupted uploads.
6. Selection Process
- All submissions will be reviewed by a selection committee.
- Selection decisions are final and are not subject to appeal.
7. Screening Rights
By submitting a film, entrants grant the festival permission to:
- Screen the film during the festival.
- Use still images, trailers (up to 60 seconds), titles, and promotional materials to advertise the festival.
- List the film and filmmaker information in festival programs, websites, and social media.
8. Copyright remains with the filmmaker.
9. Awards
- Awards will be determined by the festival jury unless otherwise stated.
- Audience awards will be determined through audience voting where applicable.
- Judges' decisions are final.
10. Attendance
- Filmmakers are encouraged, but not required, to attend the festival.
- If attending, participants are expected to conduct themselves respectfully toward staff, volunteers, fellow artists, and audience members.
11. Accessibility & Inclusion
The festival is committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all participants. Discrimination, harassment, bullying, or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated.
12. Liability
The festival is not responsible for technical issues, internet failures, or other circumstances beyond its control that may affect submissions or screenings.
13. Rule Changes
The festival reserves the right to amend these rules if necessary. Any updates will be posted on the festival website.
14. Acceptance
Submission of a film constitutes acceptance of all festival rules and regulations.
