Festival start: 28 February 2024      Festival end: 03 March 2024

Bilbao Surf Film Festival 2024 is the unique surf festival in the Basque Country, a small nation between France and Spain. We have been growing steadily for 9 editions, achieving in the last three editions the presence of local and international athletes and filmmakers, and prestigious films from all over the world, putting the name of Bilbao - Basque Country in the sphere of culture and international surfing, as well as being a unique showcase for tourism.

Its a multidisciplinary and transmedia event with photo contests, skate championship, online surf competitions, expositions, live music, talks and roundtables, an industry meeting, a solidarity action, a Surf Market and a lot of surprises year by year.

A professional jury composed of people related to the world of surfing and audiovisuals will select the finalists and the winning films. The jury's decision is final. In addition, the jury reserves the right to declare any of the prizes void.

Votes will be cast according to criteria of technical quality, artistic sensitivity, creativity and narrative solvency. The jury's decisions, including the final decision, will be taken by simple majority.

The categories will be:

- BEST FILM AWARD (More tan 30 minutes)

- BEST SHORT FILM (Less tan 30 minutes)

- BEST LOCALS ONLY (For the best work presented by filmmakers registered in or born in the Basque Country)

- BEST ACTION SPORTS (For the best work on sports other than surfing like skate, mountain, BMX, trails, nature...)

- PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD (For the best film, selected by the public by means of a vote)

- JURY AWARD (For the best film according to the consensus criteria of the professional jury)

- Official Selection (Not an award but a laurel awarded to the short films and documentaries participating in the official selection)

* The works submitted may not be awarded in more than two categories at the same time.

The winning short films and documentaries will be announced at the closing gala on March 2, 2024. They will be published on the website www.bsff.eus
