ORIGEN International Short Film Festival is held in Orce (Granada, Spain), a unique archaeological site internationally recognized for its relevance in the study of human origins.

The festival aims to promote short films as a creative tool to explore identity, memory, territory, roots, and heritage, while supporting emerging filmmakers and decentralizing cultural access in rural environments.

1. INTRODUCTION
ORIGEN International Short Film Festival is held in Orce (Granada, Spain), a unique archaeological site internationally recognized for its relevance in the study of human origins.

The festival aims to promote short films as a creative tool to explore identity, memory, territory, roots, and heritage, while supporting emerging filmmakers and decentralizing cultural access in rural environments.

2. KEY DATES
• Call opens: February 2026
• deadline: July 15, 2026
• Official Selection announcement: July 2026
• Festival dates: August 21–23, 2026

3. OFFICIAL SECTIONS

CAJA RURAL AWARD – Official National / International Section
Award: €1,000

Open to fiction, documentary and animation short films from any country.

GEOPARK AWARD – “Origins” Section
Award: €400

For short films dealing with themes related to:
• Identity
• Memory
• Territory
• Roots
• Cultural or natural heritage

4. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
• Open to filmmakers and production companies worldwide.
• Films must have been produced after January 1, 2024.
• Maximum duration: 30 minutes (including credits).
• Films in languages other than Spanish must include Spanish subtitles.
• Multiple submissions are allowed.
• Selected films must provide a high-quality digital screening copy (.mov or .mp4 H264).

5. SUBMISSION PROCESS
Submissions must be made exclusively through:

• Festhome

Submitting a film implies full acceptance of these rules.

6. SELECTION PROCESS
Films will be reviewed by a professional selection committee appointed by the festival direction.
The decision of the committee and jury is final.

7. SCREENING RIGHTS
Selected films will be screened during the festival’s public screenings.
The festival may use excerpts (maximum 1 minute), stills, and trailers for promotional purposes.
Films will not be commercially exploited without written consent from rights holders.

8. LIABILITY
Submitters declare that they hold all screening rights and that the work does not infringe third-party rights.
