X CortoGijón Festival

The Gijón Short Film Festival arises
in 2015 as a parallel section within the
Aula 18 National Short Film Contest
in the delivery After the disappearance of
emblematic festival three of the programmers
decide to maintain their essence by transferring
the festival to Gijón. It is in the second edition
that of 2016, where the festival moves to the
municipal centers of the city to develop a festival with an eye on short films and music. Since then
to the competitive sections (Official Section,
Asturias Section) And to the sample sections
(Panorama Asturias and Mirada FICX) have been
there have been concerts that have given luster to the
cultural spaces of the city and that have
served to put the climax to each projection.

Names like Marilia, Pablo Und
Destruktion, Marem Ladson, Tiger and Diamond,
David Feito… confirm the high level
musical that lives the festival and its local and regional look.

In 2020 Laboral City of Culture joins
with a new screen inside CortoGijón
thus amplifying collaborations between
all cultural entities in the region started in 2017 with the Mirada Ficx section in
collaboration with the Gijón Film Festival.

Cash Prizes: 2,000€

Three main prizes are established.

-Award for best Asturian short film

Participation Rules: XI CortoGijón Festival 2025

Validity

These rules apply to all participants in the XI CortoGijón Festival 2025, which will take place from March 28 to April 4, 2025.

Submissions

Opening date for submissions: December 5, 2024.
deadline for submissions: February 28, 2025.

Participation Requirements

Each author may submit an unlimited number of works.

Works must have been produced after January 1, 2024
and cannot exceed 60 minutes in length.

Originality of Works

All submitted works must be original.

Participants confirm they own the intellectual property rights or have authorization from the rights holders.

They also guarantee the clearance of image rights for individuals appearing in the works.

Legal Responsibility

The participant submitting the work will be solely responsible for any breach of authorship.

The organization will not be held liable for any legal disputes related to authorship.

Non-Admissible Works

Works that have participated in previous editions of the Festival will not be selected.

Festival Sections

7.1. Official Section: International short film competition.

7.2. Documentary Section: Showcase of national documentaries.

7.3. Asturias Panorama: Competition for short films created by Asturian filmmakers.

7.4. Asturian Young Talent: Section for Asturian filmmakers under the age of 30.


Awards

8.1. Official Section Award: €500.

8.2. Documentary Section Award: €500.

8.3. Best Asturian Short Film Award: €500.

8.4. Asturian Young Talent Award: €500.

8.5. Prize money will be transferred via bank within a maximum period of six months.


Submission Process

Submissions must be made exclusively through Festhome.

Notification of Selected Works

Selected participants will be informed via email two weeks before the start of the Festival.

A projection copy in digital format will also be requested.


Content of Works

Themes are free, but content that may offend the audience’s sensitivity (e.g., excessive violence) will be excluded.

The organization reserves the right to exclude works that do not comply with the rules, fail to meet quality standards, or exceed the maximum length.

Archiving and Usage of Works

12.1. Submitted works will be archived and may be used for non-commercial purposes.

12.2. Jury decisions are final and non-appealable.

Reproduction and Promotion Rights

13.1. Participants grant the Festival the right to partially or fully reproduce their works for promotional purposes without financial compensation.

13.2. Submitted works may be included in associated activities, such as:

Hornada de Cortos.
Puertas Film Festival.
MUSOC.

Acceptance of Rules

Submission implies full acceptance of these rules.
Modifications

The organization reserves the right to modify these
rules.
