The Galician Freaky Film Festival is an international freak and underground festival, which admits films belonging to the horror, fantasy, science fiction, comedy, freak or B series genres.

AWARDS & JURY'S DECISIONS

For this edition the awards will be:

-GFFF Grand Award. To the freakiest film.
-BEN DITO Award. To the best script.
-CREA Award. To the best direction.
-NEURONAS FRITIDAS Award. To the most extreme or bizarre film.
-OLIMPO DOS FREAKS Award. To the most applauded film.
-ARREPÍO Award. To the best horror film.
-ESCARÁLLOME Award. To the best humor film.
-OLIMPO DOS PEQUEFREAKS Grand Award. To the best freakiest children’s film.

The winning short films in the following categories will also receive an award of 200€:

-GFFF Grand Award. To the freakiest film.
-OLIMPO DOS FREAKS Award. To the most applauded film.
-OLIMPO DOS PEQUEFREAKS Grand Award. To the best freakiest children’s film.

Decisions made by juries and others with awards decision-making authority cannot be appealed.

1. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

1.1 Everybody can take part without any kind of restriction.

1.2 Films of horror, fantasy, SciFi, comedy and freak genres are eligible.

1.3 The films may also be aimed at a children's/family audience (Pequefreak Section) as long as they fall within the genres described in point 1.2 above.

1.4 There is no limit on the number of films per competitor.

1.5 Short films with a maximum duration of 30 minutes.

1.6 Films produced in 2021 or later are eligible.

1.7 Films that respect equality, diversity, and nondiscrimination are eligible.

2. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

2.1 Film entries in any language different from Spanish or Galician must be subtitled in any of these two languages, or at least competitors must send to the GFFF organization a dialogue list in English, Spanish or Galician.

3. DEADLINE

3.1 The deadline for submitting short films is June 12th, 2023 at 23:59 CET.

4. SCREENING

4.1 The selected films will be exhibited during the Galician Freaky Film Festival in Vigo (Galicia-Spain).

4.2 The organization reserves the possibility to screen the films selected for the Galician Freaky Film Festival Competition in other festivals and exhibitions in collaboration with the GFFF organization. In that case, it will be informed that those short films have been selected for the Galician Freaky Film Festival. Permission shall always be requested from the owners of the films.

5. SUBMISSION SERVICES

5.1 Every film must submit the Film Inscription Form duly covered, available on one of the following platforms until the deadline:

6.1.8 OLIMPO DOS PEQUEFREAKS Grand Award. To the best freakiest children’s film.

6.2 The winning short films in the following categories will also receive an award of 200€:

6.2.1 GFFF Grand Award. To the freakiest film.
6.2.2 OLIMPO DOS FREAKS Award. To the most applauded film.
6.2.3 OLIMPO DOS PEQUEFREAKS Grand Award. To the best freakiest children’s film.

6.3 Decisions made by juries and others with awards decision-making authority cannot be appealed.

7. SECURE ONLINE STREAMING

7.1 Since 2020, the GFFF has had an online festival, allowing us to show films to our audience even in these tough times. Security and quality are key for us and we partner with top professional streaming providers.

7.2 Online screening at the online festival is optional, encouraged, but not mandatory.

7.3 The GFFF audience is international but geo-restrictions are allowed in the diffusion of the films on our platform.

7.4 The online exhibition of the short films of the Official Selection will be subject to prior payment through the Festhome platform. The contents will be available between September 27 and October 8, 2023.

8. ANNOUNCEMENTS

8.1 In the event of dates or location changes, these will be published on the festival's website.

8.2 The official selection will be announced by email to all competitors and it will be released on the GFFF official website.

9. ADHERENCE TO THESE RULES

9.1 Submission to the Festival implies adherence to the present competition rules and regulations.

9.2 The jury, the festival’s organization, and/or A.C. Abella Producións have the power to deal with all unforeseen cases in the present competition rules and regulations.

9.3 In case of dispute, only the Galician version of the present competition rules and regulations will count, and not any derived translation.
