Festival start: 26 January 2027      Festival end: 30 January 2027

LusOFest is a regional festival for Portuguese-language film in Offenbach am Main, Germany. It shows a small selection of feature films, short films and documentaries from the Portuguese-speaking world, known as the Lusophonia. Besides Portuguese-language films, the short film competition also accepts local productions from Hesse and the Rhine-Main area.

The festival takes place at the Hafen 2 Offenbach, the studio 57Nord, and the Digital Retro Park museum.

Cash Prizes: 300€

The LusOFest aims to provide a platform for young filmmakers. Therefore, there is a competition for short and medium length films. To be eligible, the films must eighter have a connection to a Portuguese-language county or the Hesse/Rhine-Main region. There will be a jury prize and an audience award. Film submissions are free of charge (except a small late fee, charged during the last month). The prize money for each is 150 euros. We do accept and encourage films from amateurs and students.

The submitted short film should be under 20 minutes long. It should have a linguistic (dialogue, subtitles) or production-related reference (location, production, plot) to a Portuguese-speaking country or, alternatively, to the city or district of Offenbach or the Rhine-Main region.

Portuguese-language productions must include subtitles (eighter English or German). Productions from the Rhine-Main area can be submitted in any language and do only need subtitles if the film is not in German.

Starting this year, we are also allowing the submissions for Portuguese-language feature films.

Further information: Amateur films, school projects, graduation films are explicitly allowed and encouraged. Music videos can also be considered, provided they are of appropriate quality. The year of production is not a deciding factor for participation in the current festival edition.

The closing date for entries is 1 August 2026. The entrants of the selected short films will be notified by 1 November 2026. The festival will take place in January 2027.

Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
