Festival start: 02 July 2026      Festival end: 11 July 2026

ntroduction

The 24th MonFilmFest, organized by Immagina a.c. APS, returns from July 2 to July 11, 2026, in Mombello Monferrato (Turin) and in "everywhere" mode. The festival aims to tell stories through cinema, giving space to new voices and talents. This edition celebrates the theme "This Land Is My Land" (Questa terra è la mia terra), a tribute to Monferrato and the Planet in their complexity and beauty.

Mission

The search for new stories and new cinema talents through "a game" that defines and determines "a way of producing."
Uniqueness and Characterization: MonFilmFest has maintained its roots as "cinema games without borders" in Monferrato but has opened up to the world. In our regulations, we provide guidelines consistent with our past, starting from the idea of narrating—from Monferrato—THE Planet in its multiple physical, anthropic, political, and economic aspects, highlighting its evident environmental criticalities and its resilient beauties.

Festival Sections - Cinema Games

1. Seven Days for a Film (Sette Giorni per un Film)

This is the heart of MonFilmFest: a challenge to create a short film in just seven days, from writing to screening. This section is divided into two modes:

1. ON SITE
The invited authors will move to Mombello Monferrato, where they will shoot the film entirely within the territory.

Details: Hospitality guaranteed for a maximum of 5 people (board and lodging included).

The crew must have their own vehicle and be equipped with their own filming and editing equipment.

2. OFF SITE
The invited authors will produce their film wherever they are located, respecting the same timeframes as the ON SITE mode.

Details: No territorial constraints, but the specific rules indicated in the regulations sent to the invited participants apply.

2. Showcase (Vetrina)

A section dedicated to the research and screening of cinematographic works produced after January 1, 2024. There are no limits on genre, duration, or style. The FESTHOME platform will host the films, making them available to an international audience.

3. Chat, Action! (Chat si gira!)

Chat si gira! is the new MonFilmFest game dedicated to the pre-production of a film written four-handed with Artificial Intelligence. Launched during the 21st edition in 2023, following the heated debate of recent times, the project involves screenwriters and AI developers working together to create an original screenplay.

The first step will be to write—in Italian, with suggestions offered by Artificial Intelligence—the synopsis, subject, treatment, and screenplay of a short film, all within Seven Days. The chat bot software will be indicated by the organization to the participants. The exclusive author of the work is the human participant, who indemnifies the association from specific risks related to algorithmic copyright.

Invitations

At MonFilmFest, we do not select; rather, we invite authors based on their motivational letter, questionnaire, and knowledge of previous projects or films.

SHOWCASE (VETRINA)
Participation is open, and authors presenting works produced after January 1, 2024, may be invited. The works have no constraints regarding genre, type, or duration, but must be in Italian or subtitled in Italian. The works must be submitted on the FESTHOME platform, upon author registration, to the dedicated MonFilmFest page by June 7, 2026 (corrected for consistency with the intro, originally 2025 in source).

Registration Fees

Registration for our competition is free + Festhome service fee.

Registration for the MonFilmFest competition, organized by the Immagina Association, is free. The Association does not request any participation fee from the authors.
However, since the collection of works takes place exclusively via FESTHOME, it is necessary to cover the required service costs. These amounts (upload fees or service fees) are collected directly and entirely by the platforms for technical file management and are independent of MonFilmFest's will. Fees paid to the portals are non-refundable by the festival organization.

Selection Procedure and Artistic Commission

MonFilmFest does not apply automatic selection mechanisms. Every work correctly received (complete with file, technical sheet, and fee payment) will be viewed by the Artistic Commission, presided over by the Festival Directorate. The Commission will evaluate works based not only on technical and aesthetic quality but also on their resonance with the festival's mission and the themes of sustainability and social innovation (Agenda 2030) that characterize the 2026 edition. The results of this evaluation will determine the "Official Invitations."
It is emphasized that the Commission's judgment is unquestionable and final. The formal invitation, once accepted by the author or not declined within 48 hours of communication, binds the work to the festival program. Withdrawals of selected works are not permitted after the publication of the official program, except in cases of force majeure evaluated indisputably by the organization.

Registrations for all sections will close on June 1, 2026.

Invitations are at the sole discretion of the Commission formed by the Artistic Direction and will be announced no later than JUNE 7, 2026.

Free online screenings (Showcase): On Festhome TV from June 22 to July 6.

Free theatrical screenings: At Casa Immagina in Mombello Monferrato (Via Rechezzina 4), taking place from July 2 to July 9, 2026, according to a program that will be communicated by June 14, 2026.

General Rules

The invited authors guarantee that the work presented does not constitute plagiarism and/or infringement of others' works and does not violate, in whole or in part, the rights of third parties of any nature (copyright and intellectual property rights, image and personal rights, etc.). In any case, they undertake to hold harmless and indemnify the MonFilmFest organization, Immagina (cultural association APS), from any request and claim made by third parties, for any reason, caused by the use and screening of the work, without prejudice to the organization's right to compensation for damages.
The directors and/or producers of the films are solely responsible for relations with the technical crew, the cast, and those participating in the film's production in the territory.
They are answerable for the content of their works and declare, upon registration, that they have fulfilled any and all obligations towards third parties deriving from copyright, according to the regulations of their own country of origin and that of residence and film realization.

Authors must diligently communicate the music used in the films via a specific form.

For the Showcase (Vetrina) section, this will happen at the time of registration.

For the Seven Days for a Film (ON and OFF site) section, this must be compiled three days after the start of production.

The organization reserves the right to modify parts of this call for entries, upon publication on the official website www.monfilmfest.eu.
