OFFICIAL REGULATIONS OF THE “XXVII MOSTRA DE CURTAS VILA DE NOIA 2026”
Noia Town Council is organising the 27th Vila de Noia Short Film Festival 2026, which will take place in the final quarter of this year, cementing its position as one of the leading events on the Galician, national and international scene.
With a history spanning more than a quarter of a century, the Festival reaffirms its commitment to audiovisual creation, the promotion of new talent, the screening of innovative works and the dissemination of film culture. In this spirit, the organisation has drawn up the following rules:
1.- ENTRANTS
All professional and amateur fiction and animated short films produced after 1 January 2025 are eligible to enter, provided they have not been commercially released in cinemas, on DVD, video or television in Spain.
• Entries should preferably be in Galician or Spanish.
• If filmed in other languages, subtitles in Galician or Spanish are mandatory.
Participants agree that:
• The authors and/or producers assume full responsibility for screening rights and any resulting claims.
• The organisers are exempt from any legal liability.
2. SUBMISSIONS AND FORMATS
Each entrant may submit a maximum of three works.
• Duration: must not exceed 20 minutes (including credits).
• Genre and subject matter: completely open.
• Exclusions: works of a tourist, documentary or advertising nature will not be accepted, nor will those that lack the minimum technical quality to ensure they can be screened properly. Accepted formats:

• MP4 or H.264 / 1920x1080 / Frame rate 50i (interlaced) / MOV container.

“VILA DE NOIA” SHORT FILM FESTIVAL
Noia Council
Rosalía de Castro No. 2
15200 Noia (A Coruña)
Each entry must include: a complete technical sheet, the director’s email address and contact telephone number (as well as the distributor’s details, if applicable).
3. SELECTION
The organisers reserve the right to select the films to be included in the Mostra.
Winners at partner festivals will gain direct entry into the official selection.
The Selection Committee will assess each short film as a whole, focusing on the strength of the idea, the originality of the concept and how it is conveyed through the script and narrative. Direction and production will also be taken into account, as well as the naturalness and credibility of the performances.
Close attention will be paid to the editing and pacing of the story, which are key to maintaining coherence and the viewer’s interest, as well as the cinematography and technical quality achieved; and, of course, the personal style of each filmmaker will be appreciated—that unique way of storytelling that makes a film stand out and have its own identity within the world of short film.
Notification of selection will be made via the registration platforms, the official website and the Mostra’s social media channels.
Incentives for selected entries:
• The organisers will invite two members of the technical or creative team from each selected film.
• Hotel accommodation (double room, full board) will be provided during the screening days.
• Travel to airports or stations will be at the guests’ expense; the organisers will provide transport from these points to Noia.
The submitted copies will become part of the Mostra archive, and their use is authorised exclusively for cultural and non-commercial purposes.
4. CATEGORIES AND AWARDS
The Mostra grants awards to recognize artistic, technical, and interpretative excellence in short filmmaking.
4.1 Official awards
• Best Short Film: €3,000 + Trophy
• Best Director: €700 + Trophy
• Best Screenplay: €500 + Trophy
• Xosé Manuel Olveira “Pico” Award for Best Actor: €500 + Trophy
• Best Actress: €500 + Trophy.
• Best Animated Short Film: €1,500 + Trophy
• Best Documentary Short Film: €1,500 + Trophy
• Special Audience Award: €1,168 + Trophy
• Corto Galicia Amateur Award: €300 + Trophy
4.2 Other prizes

The prizes will be charged to budget item ___
Essential condition: representatives of the winning entries must be present at the awards ceremony in order to receive the cash prize.
5. JURY
The jury will be composed of:
• Renowned professionals in the audiovisual field.
• Members of the organizing committee.
• An employee of the Noia City Council, who will serve as secretary with the right to speak but not to vote.
Award criteria:
• The jury will evaluate each film comprehensively, taking into account screenplay, direction, editing, pacing, cinematography, and acting.
The Audience Award will be determined based on the votes cast by attendees at each screening of the Mostra.
Each viewer may rate the screened works on a scale of 0 to 5; upon completion, the weighted average of the ratings obtained will be calculated.
Failing to rate a work will result in a score of 0.
This average will take two factors into account:
1. The score awarded by the audience at each screening.
2. The total number of short films screened in the session, so that all works compete on equal terms, regardless of the section in which they are presented.
In this way, the award will go to the film that achieves the highest score according to this weighting system, ensuring a fair and balanced result.
The jury may award special mentions and declare prizes void.
The decision will be final and will be published on the official website, the City Hall bulletin board, and on social media.
In the event of a tie, each party will receive half of the prize; under no circumstances may a single party receive the entire prize, even if one of the parties waives their share.
Prizes are personal and non-transferable; in the event of a donation, the winner will be responsible for making the donation or taking the necessary steps to arrange it.
Payment of prizes: Payment will be made within a maximum of 10 days from receipt of the documentation required by Law 9/2007 on subsidies in Galicia, following notification of the beneficiary’s bank account.
6. IMAGE RIGHTS.
Registration in the Mostra implies a commitment to:
• Include the official logo and the caption “XXVII Edition” in the opening credits of the selected films.
• Incorporate the Mostra’s visual identity in all promotional and press materials related to the work.
• In the event of winning an award, the reference must appear on all distribution copies, informational materials, press kits, posters, trailers, and other exhibition media.
The organization will provide the winners with the corporate image and the corresponding graphic usage guidelines.
7. ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES
Registration in the 27th Mostra de Curtas Vila de Noia 2026 implies full and unconditional acceptance of these rules.

The awarding of the prize will be based on an overall assessment of the work, i.e. the script, the direction, the editing, the rhythm and narrative timing, the photography, the acting work, etc. Amateur short films produced in Galicia will participate in this award.
Directors who have already won in previous editions will not be able to participate in this section, with the exception of school projects or amateur charity groups.
