The Open Festival Marseille has several objectives:
Allow the general public to discover the creative richness of ( french and foreigners) short fiction films free of charge in the best conditions, in this case those of the Pathé cinemas in Marseille, our main partner.
Discover or rediscover the pleasure of cinema in theaters.
Allow young directors to present their short films in public with the prospect of winning one or more of the five prizes and trophies awarded: (free participation, travel partly reimbursed on a flat rate basis)
-Jury Prize, awarded by nine members from the film industry. (actresses, actors, technicians, casting director, etc.)
-Public Prize awarded after voting
Club Prize intended to reward a school, self-produced or associative film
- “Young Look” Prize designated by a jury made up of students from SATIS (Aix-Marseille Faculty) and students from the Marseilleveyre preparatory class for cinema careers
-Coq Prize designated by our partner Pathé, this prize translates into one month of programming in the first part of a feature film showing at the Pathé Madeleine cinema (Marseille)
Furthermore, we welcome and invite the young authors of the selected films during the duration of the festival, during which we also offer them a tour of the Martigues studios (Provence Studios) and the Marseille studios of Saint-Menet.
Debates and discussions with the public between each screening of 6 to 7 films
Prizes will be awarded, including
The Jury Prize, awarded by a jury independent of the Marseille Open Festival's organizing structure.
The “Club” Prize, awarded to a self-produced film or a film directed and produced by an association.
The Audience Prize, awarded by the public after ballots have been counted.
The “Jeune Regard” Prize, awarded by students from the preparatory class for higher education in cinema at Marseilleveyre high school (Marseille) and students from SATIS (Aix Marseille University).
The “Coq” Prize awarded by Pathé Cinéma Marseille.

ARTICLE 1 - ORGANIZATION.
The Open Festival Marseille Association, based in Marseille, is organizing a film festival entitled “OPEN FESTIVAL MARSEILLE”
(contact@openfestivalmarseille.com). The “OPEN FESTIVAL MARSEILLE” will take place in Marseille on Friday, October 10 at the Pathé Joliette cinema and on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at the Pathé Madeleine cinema. Admission is free, subject to availability. OPEN FESTIVAL MARSEILLE” is a festival of short fiction films under 15 minutes in French or with French subtitles.
The presence of the directors or their representatives whose films have been selected is highly appreciated. Lump-sum payments may be made.
Between two screenings, there will be time for meetings and debates between professionals, directors, actors and the public.
ARTICLE 2 - CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION.
- Films must not exceed 15 min in length, including credits.
- Only fiction films are accepted at the OPEN FESTIVAL MARSEILLE.
- Participation is open to all, amateurs, professionals, film students, videographers' associations, etc...
- No age limit, even schoolchildren can enter with parental consent.
- An author may submit 2 films.
- Films must have been produced after January 1, 2023. If possible, the organizers would like to see films that have not yet been made freely available on the Internet.
- A technical and artistic sheet may be requested.
- Registration is free of charge.
- Each film must be accompanied by a registration on the website at the following address
https://www.openfestivalmarseille.com/inscription or on one of the two short film festival registration platforms, Festhome.
- To enable the selection committee to view the films, they must be accessible from a specialized platform (YouTube, Vimeo, Festhome etc.), to which you must provide the link and password if applicable.
- The deadline for entries is April 30, 2025.
ARTICLE 3 - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Filmmakers will be notified by e-mail by June 1, 2025 at the latest if their film has been selected.
- Selected films must reach us in DCP format (downloadable file, hard disk or USB key returned to the directors present) by June 30, 2025 at the latest.
- An HD file must also be sent for archiving purposes.
ARTICLE 4 - SELECTION PROCEDURES
- The selection of films to be screened during the Festival will be communicated to the participants concerned and published on the social networks and websites of the OPEN FESTIVAL MARSEILLE Association and its partners.
- The decisions of the selection committee, made up of members of the Open Festival Marseille Association and various participants from the film, multimedia and cultural sectors, are final and cannot be contested.
- All participants accept, if selected :
That their film will be shown free of charge by the Festival at public screenings throughout the Festival;
To send us a brief summary of their work (no more than 30 words);
To e-mail us a royalty-free photo or poster of their film.
- All participants agree to comply with image rights regulations, as well as any use of borrowed music, sound or images.
- All participants agree to allow the organizers to use a few seconds (less than 60 seconds) of their film to promote the Festival.
- All participants declare that they are the lawful owners of the film's broadcasting, reproduction and representation rights. If the film presented includes pre-existing works, he/she also declares that he/she has the authorization and/or exploitation rights.
- After the official announcement of the selection, no film may be withdrawn from the event program.
- The organization declines all responsibility in the event of a problem with the screening of a film.
- The Festival alone is empowered to settle points not covered by the regulations and to grant dispensations.
- Participation in the Festival implies unreserved acceptance of the terms of these regulations.
- The Festival reserves the right to modify, extend or cancel the present Festival if circumstances so require. The Festival may not be held liable in any way for such modifications, extensions or cancellations.
These rules comprise 4 articles, all of which are accepted by the participants.
