The 11th edition of the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival will take place in the city of Benidorm from 10 to 17 April 2027.

The organisation will pay €200 to every short film selected for the National Official Section as a selection payment and for screening rights.

Through a cultural project with a forward-looking approach, the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival aims to promote, disseminate, professionalise and enhance the value of short-form cinema.

ARTICLE 1. DATES

The 11th edition of the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival will take place in the city of Benidorm from 10 to 17 April 2027.

ARTICLE 2. REQUIREMENTS

Fiction, animation and documentary works may compete, with a maximum running time of 30 minutes and a production date after 1 December 2025. Preference will be given to short films premiering at the festival.
Short films may compete in the following sections:

• National Official Section – Goya awards qualifying section
Only fiction, animation and documentary short films of Spanish nationality and with official ICAA classification prior to the festival may participate.

• International Official Section
Fiction, animation and documentary short films produced in any country in the world except Spain and Latin America may participate. Works should preferably be submitted with Spanish subtitles, although screening copies with english subtitles will also be accepted.

• Ibero-American Official Section
Fiction, animation and documentary short films produced in any Latin American country may participate.

• Young Filmmakers Section
National competition for short films directed by students under 25 years of age. Each work must have a maximum running time of 20 minutes and address themes related to gender equality and/or integration.


ARTICLE 3. SUBMISSIONS

The submission period opens on 26 November 2026 and will remain open until 19 January 2027. A late submission period will be open until 28 January. Each author may submit a maximum of two works. WIPs are accepted.

SUBMISSION FEES

National Official Section:
From 26 November to 19 January, the submission fee will be €7.
From 20 to 28 January, a late submission period will open, during which the fee will increase by 50%.


International Official Section:
From 26 November to 19 January, the submission fee will be €15.
From 20 to 28 January, a late submission period will open, during which the fee will increase by 50%.

Ibero-American Official Section:
From 26 November to 19 January, the submission fee will be €7.
From 20 to 28 January, a late submission period will open, during which the fee will increase by 50%.

Young Filmmakers Section:
Until 28 January. No submission fee.

Cash prizes will be paid by bank transfer to the individual or legal entity that submitted the entry or is directly associated with the work concerned, and will be subject to the statutory withholdings established by applicable law. Trophies and awards will be presented at the closing gala to the director, producer or representative of each award-winning short film. The organisation will not cover the shipping costs of trophies for award winners who do not attend the festival.

Once the festival announces that the selection payment and/or awards will be processed, interested parties will have four months to submit the relevant documentation. After this deadline, no amount may be claimed from the festival.

ARTICLE 5. SELECTION PAYMENT
The organisation will pay €200 to every short film selected for the National Official Section as a selection payment and for screening rights.

Participation in the festival entails granting the rights to disseminate the submitted images within the scope of the festival itself. These images may be archived by the organisation where deemed appropriate and by mutual agreement with their owners.

Authors must inform the organisation if they are members of SGAE or any other society that manages their copyright. The festival will assume no obligation in this regard if the relevant information is not provided.
The amount of all cash prizes awarded by the festival or its sponsors will be subject to the tax restrictions established by law.

ARTICLE 6. SELECTION OF WORKS

One month before the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival takes place, the organisation will inform selected entrants of their participation in the different festival sections. Films selected for competition must confirm their participation within 72 hours of notification by the festival.

The producer or representative who has confirmed the film’s participation in the festival will be responsible for communicating its acceptance and participation to institutions, companies, sales agents and other professionals involved in the production and/or distribution of the film.

The selection of each film by the festival will remain strictly confidential between the festival management and the producers or representatives of each invited film until the festival decides to announce it officially and publicly.

ARTICLE 7. JURIES

The different juries will be made up of distinguished professionals from the film industry and will be responsible for granting the awards.

Each jury may decide not to grant one or more awards and may also grant a special mention if it considers this appropriate, without any cash prize.

No person with an interest in the production or exhibition of the films on which they are required to give a verdict may serve as a jury member.

The decisions of the juries will be final.

ARTICLE 8. DELIVERY OF SCREENING AND PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS

The festival organisation reserves the right not to accept copies that, following review by the festival’s technical department, are deemed unsuitable for screening.
The festival organisation will inform the rights holders or representatives of the films if any irregularities are found in the copies.
All required materials must be sent via download link before 8 March 2027.

ARTICLE 9. GENERAL RULES

The festival organisation will determine the screening format and schedule, whether in person or hybrid.

The festival selection committee will be responsible for choosing the works that will form part of the competitive official section, as well as the other sections, and will personally inform all participants in writing of the official selection result.

The festival management may withdraw at any time any film that fails to comply with any of these rules. Likewise, falsification of production information will result in withdrawal from the relevant sections if the film has been selected for any of them.

The festival will cover accommodation and meal expenses for one representative of each film selected for the National Official Section during the days for which they are invited to the festival. If the guest wishes to attend with a companion, the festival will under no circumstances cover this additional expense.

The festival may screen the selected short films at the venues and times it considers appropriate during the festival dates, and at parallel screenings that may take place during the rest of the year, up to a maximum of five screenings, always informing the authors in advance and obtaining their consent.

The director, producer or representative of a work selected for competition will take part in a discussion following the screening of their work.

Short films competing in the National Official Section whose director or production company is Valencian will also be eligible for the Best Valencian Short Film award.

ARTICLE 10. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
The author or owner will retain their intellectual property rights and will be responsible for ensuring that the work is not subject to any legal liability and that no third-party rights exist.

Submission of a short film to the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival entails, for selected participants, the non-exclusive transfer of the material to the organisation for use in the different activities scheduled with the festival’s sponsors.

All documentation received will become part of the festival archive.

ARTICLE 11. ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES

Submission to the festival implies acceptance of these rules.

Any matter not covered by these rules will be resolved by the festival organisation.

These rules may be subject to possible amendments and/or addenda due to circumstances beyond the organisation’s control.
