Best Film in the Official Selection (Audience Award): 3,000 euros.

Jury's Prize "Muralla de Lugo" Best Film Cine de las Nacionalidades: 1.500 euros.

Jury Prize for Best Documentary Film: 500 euros.

Audience Award for Best Galician Film: 500 euros.

CALL FOR PAPERS
 
OBJECT


The object of this call is the regulation of the Awards to: Feature Films (Official Section). Unpublished Spanish feature films (Muralla de Lugo Award). Galician cinema (feature films, short films, documentaries). Documentary cinema (Feature films, short films, documentaries). Short films (Short films are also cinema), from the 44th Semana de Cine de Lugo (Spain), organized by the Grupo Fotocinematográfico Fonmiñá and under the auspices of the Xunta de Galicia, Diputación Provincial de Lugo, Ayuntamiento de Lugo, and Universidad de Santiago de Compostela (Lugo Campus), which will take place in Lugo (Spain) from 19th to 24th September 20th, 2022.


FINANCIAL ENDOWMENT


The International Competition of the 44th edition of the Lugo Film Week will be endowed with 6.000 euros in prizes, (distributed in its different sections) with charge to the budgetary application of the contest and subject to the current retentions that marks the law. (Prizes granted only to the films served by Festhome and Cinema by traditional inscription).


PARTICIPANTS


The contest is open to natural or legal persons with the capacity to act (producers, directors, distributors) who have due legal control over the works they submit to the contest.

The person or entity (or its representative) who signs the form authorizing the registration will be considered by the Festival as the only valid interlocutor to deal with aspects related to the participation of the film in the event and as the only person responsible before other persons or companies that have participated in the production of the film.


FILM REQUIREMENTS


They must have been produced in 2020, 2021 and 2022. They must not have been exhibited or edited commercially in Spain in public cinemas (except festivals), television, VoD or Webs before September 19, 2022 (The Selection Jury will be strict in this sense).


The works must be fiction (real image or animation) with more than 60 minutes of duration in feature films. Short films cannot exceed 30 minutes. Spanish subtitles are essential for those films whose original language is Galician, English or any other language. Films that do not comply with this requirement will be excluded from this call for entries. Some of the films selected in any of the sections and by agreement between both parties (Festival and Representative), may be screened in streaming (online) through the Festival's official channels.


PREFERENCES


A SPECIAL PREFERENCE will be given to those films that deal with the following genres and themes and whose main objective is to detect and disseminate the cinematographic talent of emerging filmmakers, with special emphasis on auteur films:

International Independent Cinema.
Unpublished Spanish Cinema.
Roads to Santiago.
Galician Cinema.

COMPETITION ENTRY


ONLINE REGISTRATION:

To register your film, please use the registration form on the corresponding digital platform Festhome.

The online registration period will close on 2 May 2022 at 24:00 (Lugo local time).


TRADITIONAL INSCRIPTION:


You can register your film by sending a request to: secilug@gmail.com.

The Selection Jury will accept or reject the selection once the submitted work has been viewed.

The deadline for registration in this case will be 2 May 2022 at 14:00 (local time in Lugo).


MANDATORY DOCUMENTATION:


To complete the registration, the following data and materials must be included:

- Contact details of the owner of the rights and assignment of exhibition rights in the Film Week.

- Assignment of exhibition rights in Streaming (Online) through the Festival's own channels.

-Filmography of the film (technical, artistic, synopsis, duration, etc.) and transfer of rights for use in social networks.

- A copy of the film with subtitles in Spanish (essential if the original language is Galician, English or any other language).

- Trailer. If you do not have a trailer, you can send a selection of images taken from the film (minimum: 30 seconds).

- High resolution stills of the film, in digital format (300 dpi or more).

- High resolution photograph of the director(s), in digital format (300 dpi or more).

- The organizers of the 44th SECILUGO will not maintain correspondence (neither oral nor written) about the originals sent. It will only do so through the corresponding distributor (digital or traditional).


OBLIGATIONS OF REGISTRANTS


The inscription in the 44th Lugo Film Week will imply:

- The total acceptance of the present bases on the part of all the participants and his agents and representatives.

- Authorisation for the festival organisers to screen the film in one of the non-competitive parallel sections in the event that it is not selected for the competition, benefiting from the publicity and promotion of the festival.

- Authorization to disseminate materials from the films entered (stills, posters, files, script fragments, press texts, etc.). Participants authorize the broadcasting of up to three minutes of images of the films in any media.

- The acceptance that, in the event of obtaining any of the prizes awarded in the competition, a written reference to the awarding of said prize will be included at the beginning of each and every copy of the film that is distributed for its exhibition in commercial cinemas and/or at audiovisual events, as well as in all printed informative and promotional material (press-books, posters, etc.). This reference will consist of a text with the type of prize awarded, invariably accompanied by the Festival's corporate image (logo and name).


SELECTION


A selection commission appointed by the Organizing Committee of the Lugo Film Week will have the task of advising in relation to the films that will compete in the different sections. Likewise, it will be able to propose those films not selected for the competition but that it considers of special relevance for its exhibition in parallel cycles.

The selection will be made bearing in mind that the competition is a sample of the most outstanding independent film productions from all over the world, focusing on the most thematically committed and formally innovative films.

In any case, the final decision regarding the competitive sections will be made by the Steering Committee.


OBLIGATIONS OF THOSE SELECTED


Participants whose films are selected for the competitive sections will be obliged to comply with the following provisions and behaviours:

-The production and distribution companies will cede the rights for the exhibition in Streaming (Online) of selected titles of their films through the Festival's own channels.

-The producers and distributors of the selected films will facilitate all the necessary material for the elaboration of the catalogue of the Lugo Film Week that is requested by the organization of the same one.

-Production and distribution companies will cede the rights for the public exhibition of their films at no cost to the organization.

-They will provide the organization with the screening copy free of charge. All films entered and not selected for the Official Competitions (Feature Films, Documentaries and Short Films) will be considered for inclusion in other sections of the Festival programme.

-They will allow the incorporation of the selected films to the videographic fund of the Cinema Week, destined to the audiovisual diffusion without profit spirit, always of cultural character. In any case, Fonmiñá (organizing entity) will communicate to the participants the use that will be made of these films.

-The film will not be withdrawn from the programme and will not be shown commercially in Spain before its screening in Lugo.


EXHIBITION


The screenings of the 44th Lugo Film Week will be held in the formats or system considered by the Festival. During the celebration of the event, from the 19th to the 24th of September 2022, the organization reserves the right to show the selected films in the cinemas and spaces linked to this event in as many public sessions as it deems appropriate. The organization will establish the order, date and time of exhibition.


JURY


A Jury chosen from among professionals from the film, audiovisual, press and cultural worlds will be in charge of selecting the different films for the competitive sections.

The Best Film of the Official Selection will be the audience attending the screenings, who will vote for each of the films shown.

FINAL RESOLUTION


The doubts that can arise on the interpretation of these bases, as well as the conflicts that could take place derived from their application, as for the organization or operation, will be solved by the Organizing Committee of the 44th Week of Cinema of Lugo.

The jury's decision will be final.

The Festival (Semana de Cine de Lugo), will run only with the expenses of those exceptionally invited to the Festival concerning trips, stays and maintenance of the days that are agreed. There will not be any other type of payment for expenses or aid of trip, whatever the origin, if it is not through the opportune invitation.

If the future situation so requires, the Festival organising committee will carry out all those actions that guarantee the measures promoted by the health authorities and the different administrations, even if this means altering the design and development of the Festival.
