WELCOME TO SHORTS WRAP

Shorts Wrap organizes a curated screening of auteur short films, taking place from 11–13 December 2026 at the iconic Kino Úsmev in Košice, Slovakia. The Best Short Film will receive the Golden Fountain Award, which includes a €1,000 cash prize and a mentorship programme supporting the director's next short film project.

In collaboration with the Košice International Film Festival, Shorts Wrap also offers participants a programme of workshops, masterclasses, and networking events with fellow filmmakers and industry professionals.

Shorts Wrap collaborates with more than 10 film directors, screenwriters, and producers whose works have premiered in the Short Film Competition or La Cinef (student short films) section of the Cannes Film Festival.

You can also find us on social media under @shorts_wrap, where we regularly share important updates from the world of short films, including key submission deadlines for festivals that qualify films for the Academy Awards, BAFTA, and the European Film Awards (EFA). During the Academy Awards and BAFTA awards season, we also publish our predictions in the short film categories.

In addition, Shorts Wrap operates as a film distribution company. Films selected by Shorts Wrap have been included in the Shorts Wrap Curated Selection and showcased in the Short Film Corner Catalogue in collaboration with the Cinéma de Demain initiative at the Cannes Film Festival. We have also participated in the Breakfast Meetings, where we presented the Shorts Wrap platform to international industry professionals. Representatives from several major organisations attended our presentation, including Berlinale Generation, the Venice International Film Festival (La Biennale di Venezia), and many others.

Among the films we have supported is the animated short Psychonauts, which received a Special Mention at the 65th Annecy International Animation Film Festival, as well as Ianna, which was screened at the Vancouver International Film Festival and the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma.

TEAM
Shorts Wrap was founded by Erik Jasaň, whose short film qualified for the Academy Awards in the Best Live Action Short Film category and was screened at Balinale, the Tirana International Film Festival, the Odense International Film Festival, the St Kilda Film Festival, and the HollyShorts Film Festival. He has also served as a pre-selection screener for the Norwich Film Festival, the Hawai‘i International Film Festival, and the IndyShorts International Film Festival. The festival's International Ambassador is Patrik Krivánek, a BAFTA member.

RULES & TERMS

1. Eligibility

1.1. Shorts Wrap accepts short films with a maximum running time of 40 minutes, including credits.

1.2. The festival accepts the following formats and genres:

Narrative (fiction) / Documentary / Animation / Experimental

1.3. The production year must be after July 1, 2024.

1.4. The submitted film must be the original work of the applicant and must not infringe any copyright, trademark, personality rights, or any other rights of third parties.

1.5. The director and screenwriter must be the same person in order to be eligible for the Golden Fountain Award, including the cash prize and mentorship programme.
1.5.a. If a film has two directors and two screenwriters, the award, cash prize, and mentorship programme may be granted to only one of them.
1.5.b. If a film has two directors but only one screenwriter, the award, cash prize, and mentorship programme shall be awarded to the individual who served as both director and screenwriter.
1.5.c. If a film has multiple directors and/or multiple screenwriters, the filmmakers must designate one eligible director-screenwriter as the potential recipient of the award before the Official Selection is announced.

2. Language & Subtitles

2.1. All films that are not in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian must include English or Spanish subtitles.

2.2. Films in English do not require subtitles, but English subtitles are recommended for accessibility.

3. Premiere Status

3.1. The festival prefers Slovak premieres, but films without premiere status may also be considered.

4. Submissions & Fees

4.1. Multiple films may be submitted by the same director or production company.

Each film must be submitted separately.

The festival does not grant fee waivers.

5. Selection & Jury

5.1. All submitted films are evaluated by the Shorts Wrap selection committee.

5.2. The decision of the selection committee and jury is final and cannot be appealed.

5.3. The organizers reserve the right to place selected films into appropriate sections or categories.

5.4. The organizers reserve the right not to award some or all prizes.


6. Screening Format & Technical Requirements

6.1. All official festival screenings will be presented exclusively in DCP format.

6.2. Selected filmmakers must provide a DCP compliant with cinema projection standards by the deadline specified by the festival.

6.3. If a filmmaker is unable to deliver a DCP, the festival reserves the right to remove the film from the program.

6.4. The festival may request additional materials including but not limited to:
high-resolution stills, trailer or teaser, dialogue list, subtitle files


7. Copyright & Permissions

7.1. By submitting a film, the applicant confirms that they have obtained all necessary rights and permissions, including rights for music, sound, visual materials, archival footage, and performances.

7.2. The applicant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Shorts Wrap festival, its organizers, partners, and screening venues against any claims arising from third-party rights violations.


8. Promotional Use

8.1. Shorts Wrap may use film excerpts (up to 3 minutes), stills, posters, trailers, and other submitted materials for: festival promotion, educational purposes, media coverage, online and offline presentations

8.2. Film excerpts may appear on television, the internet, social media, and partner channels strictly for promotional purposes.


9. Screenings & Film Copies

9.1. Films will be screened only during the festival dates, unless otherwise agreed with the rights holder.

9.2. Film copies provided to the festival will be used solely for organizational and promotional purposes and will not be distributed or commercially exploited.


10. Acceptance of Rules

10.1. Submitting a film constitutes full acceptance of these rules and terms.

10.2. Failure to comply with these rules may result in disqualification.

10.3. Films may be submitted only by a legal entity (production company, organization, institution, or official professional representative).

10.4. By submitting a film, the applicant confirms they are authorized to act on behalf of the rights holder and have obtained the consent of the director and/or all rights holders.

10.5. The festival reserves the right to request documentation confirming the legal status of the applicant or their authority to represent the film.


11. Marketing Communication

11.1. By submitting a project, the applicant agrees to receive festival and partner marketing communications related to Shorts Wrap and associated festivals.


12. Screening Fee

12.1. The festival awards each film selected for the Official Selection a one-time screening fee of €50.00. The fee may be invoiced 14 days after the end of the festival based on an issued invoice to: SHORTS WRAP s.r.o., Rosna 10, 040 01 Košice, Slovakia, Company ID: 56348410.
