The Coordinating Committee of "FESOH!CURT – Short Film Festival of Nules", by unanimous agreement at the meeting held on 15/06/2025, announces the competition for the ninth edition and establishes the following RULES:

1. The 9th edition of the festival will take place in the town of Nules on 27 and 28 November 2026 at the Teatro Alcázar. Additionally, there will be a festival presentation in the municipality of Xilxes on 20 September 2026. It is a general-audience, competitive festival.

2. FESOH!CURT aims to promote the use of Valencian through short filmmaking. For this reason, at least 50% of the selected short films must be in Valencian (in any of its dialectal variants). That said, short films in other languages may also participate.

3. Any individual or legal entity, individually or collectively and with no age limit, may participate with short films of any genre. Each director, producer and/or filmmaker may submit a maximum of two works. Productions must have been made after 1 January 2025.

4. The subject matter and genre of productions is open; quality and trend-setting will be the primary criteria.

5. Short films should be (though are not limited to) fiction, animation and/or documentary. They must have a maximum running time of 15 minutes. Exceptionally, the organising committee may accept longer works if it deems appropriate.

6. Registration can be completed through the Festhome platform: https://festhome.com/festival/fesohcurt

7. Registration is free. The registration and submission period opens on 19 June 2026 and closes on 11 October 2026. Works arriving after this deadline will not be accepted.

8. Advertising works will not be admitted, nor will those using non-original material for more than 10% of the total work. Works that do not meet the minimum technical quality required for proper screening will also be rejected.

9. The Coordinating Committee will carry out a preliminary selection of submitted works. This decision will be communicated to the person responsible for each selected production.

The OFFICIAL SELECTION will be published on social media from 1 November 2026 onwards.

Responsible parties for selected productions must send an email to fesohcurt@gmail.com with the title of the production as the subject, attaching two or more film stills that may be used as festival promotional material, along with a brief technical sheet with the production team's details. They must also include a downloadable link to the screening copy in .mp4 format (H264) with a minimum HD quality (1920×1080).

10. Participants under 18 years of age must have authorisation from their legal guardians.

11. Authors must ensure in advance that the content of their work does not infringe intellectual property rights or other third-party rights, and shall hold the Coordinating Committee harmless from any legal liability.

12. Selected productions will form the OFFICIAL SECTION and will be publicly screened during the festival days, on the understanding that their authors or producers authorise the screening. The organisation also reserves the right to use the productions for promotional purposes and/or subsequently for promotional videos and events. Selected short films will receive €30 as a selection fee, subject to applicable tax withholdings.

13. A jury appointed by the Coordinating Committee and comprising a minimum of 4 members will decide the OFFICIAL SECTION awards. The jury will be made up of recognised professionals in the audiovisual communication and culture sector.

14. Works filmed in the Province of Castellón may also be considered for the "Best Short Film from the Castellón Region" category, and may accordingly compete for the prize established for that category.

15. Works filmed entirely or partially in Nules, Mascarell or the beaches of Nules may also compete for the "Best Short Film filmed in Nules" award.

16. Works filmed in languages other than Valencian (in any of its dialectal variants) may compete for the "Best Short Film in Other Languages" award.

17. All works will be eligible for the Audience Choice award.

18. Additionally, a prize for Best Performance in Valencian will be awarded.

19. Finally, technical prizes will be awarded for Best Screenplay and Best Cinematography. To be eligible for these prizes, the respective crew members must have been born in or be resident in the Valencian Community.

20. Eight prizes are established, sponsored by the Nules Town Council:

Best Short Film: trophy and €600
Best Short Film in Other Languages: trophy and €400
Best Short Film – Audience Vote: trophy and €300
Best Short Film from the Castellón Region: trophy and €300
Best Short Film filmed in Nules: trophy and €300
Best Performance in Valencian: trophy and €100
Best Screenplay by a Valencian scriptwriter: trophy and €100
Best Cinematography by a Valencian technician: trophy and €100

21. The jury reserves the right to leave any prize(s) unawarded, as well as to grant special mentions to highlight technical or artistic aspects of any film in competition. Its decisions are final and binding.

22. Prize payments will be subject to applicable tax withholdings.

23. Production companies accept that, should they receive any of the awarded prizes, they may include a written reference to the award at the beginning of copies of the film distributed for screening in commercial cinemas and/or audiovisual competitions, as well as in printed informational and promotional materials. The Coordinating Committee will provide winners with the official award image.

24. The closing ceremony and prize-giving for all categories will take place on Saturday, 28 November 2026, at the Teatro Alcázar in Nules.

25. Prize winners are required to attend the ceremony to collect their award, except in exceptional and justified circumstances (e.g. due to distance), in which case they must submit a video to be screened during the awards ceremony. If a winner neither attends nor justifies their absence, the prize will be awarded to the second-best short film in that category.

26. Participation in the Festival implies the transfer of broadcasting rights for the submitted footage within the scope of the Festival itself, which may be archived by the organisation if deemed appropriate and by mutual agreement with the rights holders. If a selected work is registered with SGAE or another copyright management organisation, the corresponding membership certificate must be submitted to the Festival. Without this certificate, the Festival assumes no obligations.

27. Any matter arising during the festival that is not covered by these RULES will be decided by the Coordinating Committee. Participation in the festival implies acceptance of these RULES.
