The nineteenth version of the Muestra Cine + Video Indígena, organised by the Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino, opens its call for entries from 21 November to 7 March 2026 to films by indigenous and non-indigenous filmmakers whose central theme is indigenous peoples, especially in Latin America.
The curatorial committee of the festival will place special emphasis on selecting works that portray cultural and territorial aspects of these nations, such as: processes of safeguarding cultures, protection and defence of territories and the environment, human rights, identity tensions and political reflections. RULES & REGULATIONS
The twentieth edition of the Indigenous Film + Video Showcase, organized by the Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art, opens its call for submissions from November until March 7, 2026, for films by Indigenous and non-Indigenous filmmakers whose main theme focuses on the Indigenous peoples of the Americas.
The Showcase’s curatorial committee will place special emphasis on selecting works that portray the cultural and territorial aspects of these nations, such as processes of cultural preservation, protection and defense of territories and the environment, human rights, identity tensions, and political reflections. Works spoken in Indigenous languages and those made through participatory processes with Indigenous communities or through Indigenous film school training programs will also be highlighted.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Audiovisual works produced from 2020 onward.
Works that have not been previously screened at this Showcase.
SUBMISSION PROCESS
Free submission, including a link for high-resolution download and viewing, attaching a trailer, synopsis, three stills, and the official poster of the submitted audiovisual work.
For encrypted files, the access key must be included to enable playback.
Important:
a) The download and screening copy must be sent in a high-quality, low-compression MOV or MP4 video container, codec H.264.
b) If the film is not spoken in Spanish, the download and screening copy must include subtitles, either burned-in or in .SRT format. The Showcase will not finance subtitling costs.
c) The download and screening copy must not have watermarks.
If the material is not received within the required deadlines or with the specified characteristics, the Showcase reserves the right to remove the film from the program.
The viewing, download, and screening links will be used exclusively by the Showcase team for the selection process. They will not be shared or published until the audiovisual work is included in the official selection.
Applicants who are not selected will receive an email notification.
This decision is final and cannot be appealed.
The Showcase may reproduce stills and excerpts from the selected works for promotional purposes.
CURATORSHIP & SCREENINGS
The Curatorial Committee will be composed exclusively of individuals who have made significant contributions to culture, the arts, and the audiovisual field, and who have no direct or indirect relationship with the selected works.
The selection of titles is final and will be announced to participants by email and through our social media in July 2026.
Selected films may be screened as many times as the organization deems necessary, both within and outside Chile, always in non-profit activities and always respecting copyright, with prior notice and authorization requested from the directors or producers.
ONLINE SCREENING
After the in-person screenings of the selected films, the Indigenous Film + Video Showcase will conduct Online Screenings for the countries that are part of the Showcase’s international venue network, via the website of the Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art. These screenings will also respect exhibition and copyright rules, with prior notice and authorization requested from the directors or producers.
SCREENING RIGHTS
By submitting their audiovisual works to the Indigenous Film + Video Showcase, directors and producers grant unrestricted authorization for screening, and exempt the organization from any claims regarding rights held by other individuals or entities.
The organization of this Showcase does not pay screening fees for selected films, as it is a free, non-profit cultural and educational event.
If any adjustments to the scheduled program become necessary, the organization reserves the right to reschedule activities. All updates will be communicated on the official website, official social media, and by email to the persons responsible for the selected films.
The final program of the Indigenous Film + Video Showcase 2026 will be published on the official website and social media starting in July 2026.
ARCHIVE
All audiovisual material selected for the Indigenous Film + Video Showcase will be preserved in the Audiovisual Archive of the Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art, and will be available to the public, researchers, and educators in the museum’s library.
