II Edition - The Blanes - Costa Brava International Film Festival is an international film festival that presents documentaries, fiction and animation, short and feature films, series and video art. It consists of international competitive sections, non-competitive sections and parallel activities. All the films that make up the different sections will be selected by the Festival's programming committee.

● The cash prize is subject to the attendance of the director or artist at the awards ceremony. The trophies can only be collected in person and will not be sent by mail.

● All decisions made by the Festival and the jury
are final. The registration and participation of a film in the Competition implies full acceptance of these rules. Any doubt that may arise that is not resolved in these rules will be resolved by the management of the Festival Organizing Committee.

REGISTRATION BASES FOR FILMS AT THE BLANES - COSTA BRAVA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL - 2025 EDITION

The Blanes – Costa Brava International Film Festival is an international film festival that includes documentary, fiction and animation genres, short films and feature films. All the films that make up the different sections will be selected by the Festival organisers.

The 2nd edition of the Festival will be held from 17 to 24 May 2025 in person in Blanes.

The following rules are applied in the nomination of films for the Official Competitive Sections:

● The Official Section - Short Films: A selection of the best short films on the most recent international scene.

● The Official Section - Feature Films: A selection of the best feature films on the most recent international scene.

● The Culture/Guest Country Section: In this edition, France will be the guest country.

1. General requirements for registration

deadlines:

● Registration deadline: 31st March, 2025

● Selection notification: As of 10th April, 2025

● Sending screening materials and copies: Before 30th April, 2025

● Final selection: Screening times will be announced by 10th May, 2025

● Nominated for the awards: Nominees for each award will be notified by 23rd May, 2025

1.1 The films participating in the Official Sections will be selected by the Festival organizers. Their decision will be final.
Admission criteria:

1.2 Films must meet the following requirements:

● Production after 1st January, 2022.

● Not having been commercially released in the La Selva region.

The Festival management reserves the right to program, as an exception, films that do not meet these requirements, always out of competition.

Registration procedures:

1.3 The accepted procedures for submitting a film are:

● online platforms: Festhome.

● Postal delivery: Blanes-Costa Brava International Film Festival – Ajuntament de Blanes – Passeig de Dintre 29, 17300 Blanes (Girona)

1.4 Films must be in their original version and subtitled in Catalan or Spanish. If subtitles are not available, the Festival may decide whether to accept the screening.

2. Registration fees
Registration fees:

● Short films: 12 €

● Feature films: 30 €

Registration will be free for:

● Young artists (under 25 years old)

● "Quilòmetre zero" productions (the director/producer must declare that he/she is from the province of Girona).

● Films expressly invited by the Festival Organization

Payment will be made through the registration platforms.

4. Remuneration

4.1 The Festival will cover the costs of maintenance: 1 double room for 2 nights half board for all the selected films up to a maximum of 25,000.00 €.

4.2 The Festival may establish a remuneration for fiction and animation feature films that have been specifically invited by the Festival to compete in the official competition, based on criteria such as promotional interest or market demand, among other factors. The amounts will be paid to the person or entity that owns the rights of the film and has registered it at the Festival, assuming that all parties involved (producer, distributor, management, etc.) are aware of and accept this participation. It is mandatory to submit the corresponding invoices to the Festival Organizing Committee to process the payment of these amounts, which will be paid after participation in the Festival. No payment will be made without the required invoice.

4.3 In the case of films produced in non-Spanish countries, invoices will be issued without VAT and payment of taxes will be the responsibility of the issuer.

5. How to submit a film

5.1 The accepted procedures for submitting a film to the Festival are: through the platform www.Festhome.com, or by postal delivery.

• Registration on the Festhome platform, which includes a technical datasheet, promotional materials and an online link. Participants must ensure that their password on YouTube, Vimeo or other platforms does not expire or change until the end of the Festival.

• Registration by post or in person must include the registration ticket, a technical datasheet, promotional materials and a physical support with the film. It must be sent to: Blanes - Costa Brava International Film Festival - Ajuntament de Blanes - Passeig de Dintre 29, 17300 Blanes (Girona).

Unreleased films that wish to premiere at the Festival, including international or national premieres, must expressly notify the contact email address.

5.2 The Festival accepts submissions of films with rough cuts/non-final versions for the programmers to take into account. When submitting the film, it must be clearly stated/written down that it is a non-final version of the film. The Organisation will contact the participant and/or person who submitted the submission directly to request a final and/or definitive version of the film if necessary.

5.3 The participant ensures that the film submitted is original and is not subject to contracts, assignments or licenses to third parties of copyright or intellectual property or other rights, except those of the author.

5.4 Only applications received on time will be accepted, and incomplete applications will not be considered.


6. Selection process, necessary requirements and authorizations

Selection process

6.1 The selection for the different sections of the Festival will be the responsibility of the Organizing Committee. The result will be published on the Festival website and on social media before 11th April, 2025. Applicants for the selected films will receive a confirmation email and the Festival regulations.

6.2 This selection will be made without distinction of theme and will include proposals from the invited culture. The aim is to offer a diverse and quality representation of contemporary cinema at a national and international level.

6.3 A Jury appointed by the Organizing Committee will deliberate on the Festival's nominees and awards, designating a maximum of 5 nominees for each award.

Formats
6.4 The selected films must have a screening copy available in the following formats: Digital copy in Full HD or Blu-ray. The Festival will not accept copies that do not meet the minimum exhibition conditions.

Projection spaces

6.5 The selected films will be screened in person during the Festival dates at the Blanes Municipal Theatre and in other venues decided by the Organizing Committee. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to rotate the sessions.

6.6 Exceptionally, participating films may also choose to be screened via geo-blocked streaming for a limited period via the Festival's online channel and under the conditions agreed with the service provider.

Authorizations, responsibility and publicity

6.7 Participants release the Festival Organizing Committee from any liability arising from plagiarism or any infringement of current legislation in which they may be involved. Films will be submitted by a person who holds their rights or who represents them. The person who submits films to the competition will be responsible for paying the royalties generated by their works.

6.8 The winners agree that the award received will be mentioned in subsequent broadcasts of the film. They also authorize the Organizing Committee to use extracts (less than 1') and photographs for the promotion and publicity of the Festival in all physical and digital media, including social networks.

6.9 The selected films may not, under any circumstances, be withdrawn from the competition unilaterally by the person or producer who has entered the film in the Festival once the selection has been notified by the Festival, and they must meet the requirements of the section in which they participate until their presentation at the Festival. The Festival will recognize the person signing this registration as the sole interlocutor to negotiate all aspects related to the participation of the film in the competition and as the sole party responsible before other companies or persons who may have participated in the production of the film.
