The Busan International AI Film Festival is dedicated to showcasing films created using artificial intelligence technology, serving as a platform for presenting creative content produced through AI.

We aim to provide opportunities to artistically experience new forms of art and diverse genres of films created by innovative AI technologies. Additionally, we offer a stage for filmmakers who challenge themselves with creative work through AI, thereby uncovering and supporting new talents.

1. Organization
The Busan International AI Film Festival (BIAIF) is presented and hosted by the Busan Cinema Center.

2. Goal

The BIAIF has set the following goals to ensure that AI technology contributes to the evolution of film art:

- Encourage the creation of innovative film art using AI.

- Promote the advancement of AI technology for movies.

- Foster the collective growth of AI-based film-related industries.

The Busan International AI Film Festival (BIAIF) is presented and hosted by the Busan Cinema Center.

2. Goal
The BIAIF has set the following goals to ensure that AI technology contributes to the evolution of film art:

Encourage the creation of innovative film art using AI.

Promote the advancement of AI technology for movies.

Foster the collective growth of AI-based film-related industries.

Provide a forum for constructive discussions on the use of AI technology.

3. Festival Dates
The Busan International AI Film Festival is scheduled to take place from December 4 to 6, 2025, at the Busan Cinema Center, though the dates are subject to change.

4. Program (International Non-Competition Section)
In the International Non-Competition section, submitted works will be evaluated by a panel of expert judges. Selected films will be officially screened in this section. At the festival's discretion, additional programs may be created.

[International Non-Competition]
Submitted works will be evaluated by a jury composed of film and AI experts. Selected films will be screened in a non-competitive section, where no prizes or rankings are awarded.

However, the Audience Award will be determined through official voting conducted during the festival.

5. Submission

5-1. Submission Guidelines
Entrants must complete all required information on the BIAIF submission page. A confirmation email will be sent upon completion.

5-2. Submission Films

Films must utilize AI technology either fully or partially.

A description of the AI technology used must be provided.

Films must be uploaded privately to an online video service (e.g., YouTube, Vimeo), and the URL and password submitted.

If the film contains dialogue, English subtitles must be included, except for English-language dialogues.

Screeners must be valid until November 30, 2025.

The version submitted must be identical to the screening version. Any edits must be reported.

5-3. Entry Fee
There is no entry fee.

5-4. Submission Period
From July 16 to September 7, 2025 – 23:59:59 (KST).

5-5. Year of Production
Films must have been produced after August 2024.

5-6. Running Time
Minimum runtime is 3 minutes.

7. Copyrights

Entrants must secure all copyrights and portrait rights.

The festival is not responsible for legal issues arising from infringement.

If legal issues arise, the festival may cancel the selection and revoke any granted support.

8. Selection of Films

8-1. Selected Films

Selection is based on jury evaluation.

The festival obtains the right to screen selected films.

Results will be announced in September 2025 via BIAIF's website and social media. Entrants will also be notified directly.

8-2. Judging Criteria

Evaluation will consider the film's completeness and use of technology.

Detailed results are confidential.

If standards are not met, the festival may choose not to screen any films.

8-3. Withdrawal and Cancellation
Selection may be canceled if:

Submission includes false or incomplete info.

Legal issues arise (e.g., plagiarism, rights).

Multiple submissions are made by one entrant.

The entrant damages the festival’s reputation.

The entrant fails to respond to festival communications.

Must include English subtitles if dialogue is not in English

Formats: DCP or MOV (DCP preferred)

Resolutions: 1920x1080, 1998x1080, 2048x858 or higher

9-4. Subtitles

Submit English subtitle file (srt or smi)

Subtitle requirements by language:

Korean dialogue → Korean + English subtitles or English-subtitled copy

English dialogue → Korean + English subtitles or Korean-subtitled copy

Other languages → English subtitles + full script

(Optional) Submit original-language subtitle files

(Optional) Submit full dialogue script

Note: Korean subtitles created by the festival belong to the festival

9-5. Use of Selected Films

Screenings may occur at venues and online platforms

Schedule is arranged by the festival

Films and promotional materials may be used for publicity

Even after the festival, films may be featured on BIAIF platforms

9-6. Shipping Instructions

Films must be uploaded to the designated online platform

If shipping is required, entrants cover shipping; the festival covers return costs

10. General Regulations

The entrant is considered to have agreed to all regulations upon submission

The festival may decide on matters not specified herein
