Two Sections: JURY PRIZE FOR BEST FICTION SHORT FILM (Jury composed of prisoners from the Daroca Penitentiary Center - Spain) and PRIZE FOR BEST SHORT FILM MADE BY FILM WORKSHOPS IN PENITENTIARY CENTERS - FICTION AND/OR DOCUMENTARY - (Jury composed of Professionals from the audiovisual sector).
This is the only online Film Festival in the world in which the prisoners belonging to the Film Workshop of the Daroca Penitentiary Center (Spain) have an intense and active participation:
Viewing, pre-selecting and deciding the Awards (along with a Jury of professionals of the sector);
Participating in the filming of a comedy sketch alongside an honored star, as well as in all the previous phases – such as the script, planning, acting, lighting, sound and production – and in its post-production;
And in the preparation and conduct of interviews with the aforementioned honored star and other illustrious visitors to the prison.
A job lasting several months that has a very positive impact on their social reintegration.
– For the Official Section (JURY Award for Best Fiction Short Film and for the Best Short Film from Penitentiary Centers), the prizes will consist of the online delivery/shipment of LAURELS, a BOOK OF POEMS, SHORT STORIES, AND A SCREENPLAY published by the inmates of the penitentiary, and a “STONEMAKER'S DIPLOMA” certifying the award. This Diploma has been awarded since 2005 to those who, through their presence and/or contribution, metaphorically “open a hole of freedom and hope in the walls of our penitentiary centers.”
– For the AUDIENCE Award for Best Fiction Short Film, the prizes will consist of the online delivery/shipment of LAURELS, a BOOK OF POEMS, SHORT STORIES, AND A SCREENPLAY published by the inmates of the penitentiary, and a “STONEMAKER'S DIPLOMA” certifying the award. Furthermore, the poster, trailer, and/or short film, as applicable, will be permanently featured in the digital magazine www.revistalaocaloca.com, and all information about the award recipient will be published there. The producer and/or director of the work accepts these terms and conditions and grants permission for this publicity.
The Festival's award-winning films will be screened at the prison, and the winners in each category of the Official Selection will be invited to present their short films to the inmates participating in the Film Workshop at the Daroca Prison (Zaragoza).
Additionally, the MMS DISTRIBUTION AWARD will be presented, which consists of granting a distribution voucher to 50 national and international short film festivals, for one short film, from all those submitted to the competition, whose director has not directed more than two short films.
