Festival start: 01 November 2020      Festival end: 31 December 2020

EDITA is a short film festival focused on social transformation. Its goal is to increase critical capability,
involve society in the promotion of human rights through film making, besides making the public feel the
calling of social change.
ASAD aspires to encourage the debate and the critical reflection about these topics through the
participants’; works and proposals. We want to know new social imaginaries, look from other perspectives
and approximate to non-hegemonic proposals which support a sustainable human development, human
rights and social justice.
The contest “EDITA 2020” is included in the Project ActivArte: Comunicación para la acción local desde un enfoque de género y de interseccionalidad, of Asociación Solidaria Andaluza de Desarrollo (ASAD) and
funded by the Agencia Andaluza de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (AACID).

• Jury prize of VII Social Audiovisual Contest EDITA 2020 to the best fictional short film, amount of 400 euros in audiovisual equipment, according to the winner’s choice and a certificate of acknowledgment.
• Jury prize of VII Social Audiovisual Contest EDITA 2020 to the best documentary/experimental short film, amount of 400 euros in audiovisual equipment, according to the winner’s choice and a certificate of acknowledgment.
• Special Public Mention Prize to the best fictional or documentary/experimental short film, amount of 200 euros in audiovisual equipment, according to the winner’s choice and a certificate of acknowledgment.

This contest is aimed at people and/or collectives who had filmed a documentary, fiction and/or
experimental short film which tackle topics in relation with the defence or promotion of human rights,
gender equity and social justice, as well as other topics which tackle, in a reflexive critical way, poverty
and spread alternative experiences of social change emerging in different parts of the world. These can
be addressed through initiatives of social movements, groups, organizations, NGOs, Development NGOs
and others that focus on the positive aspects of change and the constructions of new imaginaries, as well
as what the collectives and people can do together; make visible the dignity and the capacities of the
people who fight against injustice. They are, in fact, the main engine of CHANGE.
In conclusion, we search for works that promote messages in favour of individual and collective
attitudes that could change unfair realities and propose a more equitable and solidary world.

The participants could be collectives and authors whose works have been created after the 1 January 2018.

• Having read these rules, the works will join the contest by filling out the following form:
• Works must be sent through a link (with or without password) in high quality. There are no further
requirements about film formats or platforms.
• If the film has copyrighted music, license or authorization must be shown.
• The film must follow the communicational, advertising and use of images guidelines detailed in the 5th point of the Código de conducta de las ONG de Desarrollo: https://coordinadoraongd.org/wp-
• All creations with violent, sexist, racist or any content that violates fundamental rights will be rejected.

• International fictional short film contest. Films up to 15 minutes.
• International documentary/experimental short film contest. Films up to 20 minutes.

• The works can be sent from 1 June at 12:00 until September 25, 2020 at 0:00 (official deadline).
• The Jury will select the finalist works, which will be shown at the EDITA festival. The celebration is planned to take place in person during two days by the end of 2020, in the city of Granada (Spain). Nevertheless, due to the health emergency caused by COVID-19, the festival might be held on-line. The final decision will be made in fall 2020, according to the measures taken by authorities.
• The Jury will choose a winner, of each category, from the finalist works. Public attending the projections will vote for the winner to each Special Mention.
• The Jury prize will be announced to the winners 10 days before the celebration of the festival. Special Public Mention Prize will be announced immediately after the festival through an official statement. The Jury’s decision will be published on the festival’s website, www.edita.asad.es, as well as on the ASAD website, www.asad.es and www.laeditora.org. It will also be announced on social media.
• The prizes will be declared void if in the Jury’s opinion, the works don’t have a minimum quality.

The Jury will be formed by at least four professionals from the audiovisual, cooperation and education for development sector. Their decisions will not be open to appeal.

The participation implies the acceptance of the rules. The authors or collectives will be responsible if
there’s any claim in relation to intellectual property rights or image rights raised by people that appear in
the videos.
In accordance with the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and the Organic Law 3/2018, participants give their
consent for the treatment of their personal data in relation with the process of the contest.
The participation in this contest leads to the transfer of the publication and image reproduction rights.
The participation also involves the consent to add the submitted images to the ASAD ONG files. ASAD
could use them in different exhibitions without financial gain in the context of its cooperation and
education for development projects.
