The 2nd Eurodesk León European Film Day – Time to Move is an in-person short-film showcase organised by Eurodesk León and the Youth Department of León City Council.

The event uses cinema to bring the cultural and creative diversity of Europe closer to young audiences, encourage dialogue between viewers and filmmakers, and introduce opportunities for mobility, education, volunteering and participation across Europe.

The programme brings together fiction, documentary and contemporary audiovisual works from countries represented in the Eurodesk network, as well as a dedicated section for filmmakers and productions connected to the province of León.

The official gala and screening will take place on Wednesday, 21 October 2026 at 5:00 p.m. at Espacio Joven Vías, Avenida Padre Isla 48, León, Spain.

Admission will be free, subject to venue capacity.

This edition does not offer cash prizes.

All selected works will receive the Official Selection digital laurel of the 2nd Eurodesk León European Film Day – Time to Move 2026.

The organisation may grant non-monetary honorary mentions if determined by the selection committee.

1. ORGANISATION

The 2nd Eurodesk León European Film Day – Time to Move is organised by Eurodesk León and the Youth Department of León City Council.

2. PURPOSE

The call aims to select short films for public screening during the Eurodesk León European Film Day, promote European cultural and creative diversity, and introduce young audiences to mobility, education, volunteering and participation opportunities across Europe.

3. SUBMISSION

Submission is free of charge and must be completed through Festhome before the stated deadline.

Each applicant may submit more than one different work. However, the same work may only be submitted to one section.

4. SECTIONS

The programme includes the following sections:

— European Fiction.
— European Documentary.
— Leonese Cinema: Fiction and Documentary.
— Contemporary Audiovisual Creation.

5. ELIGIBILITY

Works submitted to European Fiction, European Documentary and Contemporary Audiovisual Creation must have one of the countries represented in the Eurodesk network as their main country of production.

Works submitted to Leonese Cinema must demonstrate a direct connection with the province of León through at least one of the following criteria:

— The director was born or currently resides in the province of León.
— The main production company is based in the province of León.
— At least 50% of principal photography took place in the province of León.

The organisation may request evidence of this connection.

6. RUNNING TIME

The maximum running time for European Fiction, European Documentary and Leonese Cinema is 20 minutes, including credits.

The maximum running time for Contemporary Audiovisual Creation is 12 minutes, including credits.

There is no minimum running time.

7. COMPLETION DATE AND PREMIERE STATUS

Submitted works must have been completed on or after 1 January 2024.

No national, international or regional premiere status is required. Works may have previously been screened at other festivals or made available online.

Works submitted to previous editions of this event will not be accepted again.

8. LANGUAGES AND SUBTITLES

Works in any language are accepted.

Works not spoken in Spanish must include English or Spanish subtitles for the selection process.

If selected, the organisation may request a Spanish-subtitled screening copy or an editable and correctly synchronised SRT file or time-coded dialogue list to prepare the exhibition subtitles.

9. RIGHTS

The person or organisation submitting the work declares that they hold all necessary rights relating to the film, including image, music, archive footage and any other third-party material.

The organisation will not be responsible for claims resulting from a breach of this obligation.

10. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

The use of artificial intelligence tools is permitted but must be disclosed during submission. Applicants must identify the tools used and explain which parts of the production process involved their use.

The use of artificial intelligence does not remove the obligation to hold the necessary rights or to identify a person responsible for the work’s creative decisions.

11. SELECTION

The selection will be carried out by the organisation or by a committee appointed for this purpose. Its decisions will be final.

Selected applicants will be notified through Festhome or through the email address provided during submission.

12. SCREENING COPY

Selected works must provide a Full HD screening copy without watermarks, preferably in MP4 H.264 or MOV ProRes format, with audio at 48 kHz.

Subtitles must either be embedded in the image or supplied as a correctly synchronised SRT file.

13. SCREENING AUTHORISATION

Submission authorises one free public screening of the selected work during the 2nd Eurodesk León European Film Day – Time to Move, taking place on 21 October 2026 at Espacio Joven Vías in León.

No screening fee will be paid.

Any additional screening outside this event will require separate authorisation from the rights holder.

14. PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL

The organisation may use the poster, still images, trailer and excerpts of up to 30 seconds exclusively to communicate and promote the event and its selected works.

This material will not be used for commercial purposes.

15. RECOGNITION

This edition does not offer cash prizes.

Selected works will receive the official selection digital laurel. The organisation may grant non-monetary honorary mentions.

16. ACCEPTANCE

Submission implies full acceptance of these rules.

Any circumstance not covered by these rules will be resolved by the organisation according to the cultural and educational objectives of the event.
