If we had to define Facom Fest in a single phrase, as a tagline, it would be: “A Galician festival for students”. This leaves us with two main focuses of interest: on the one hand, our unwavering commitment to promoting Galician projects; and, on the other hand, the emphasis on “students”. Unlike previous editions, this 4th edition aims to give visibility not only to works created by Galician students, but also by students from any region of the world. We believe that our condition as students is vital for establishing dialogues and debates, identifying common or divergent points, and above all, learning. Even though we are still in training, this international initiative aspires to give us the ability to teach — this time, we, the global student body, to our peers. To share experiences, visions, techniques, and, who knows, perhaps contacts. Following the spirit of previous editions, we understand that many works created during one’s academic formation deserve to have a life of their own — to be seen, discussed, and to reach beyond borders, which often seems difficult when entering the professional world.
Thus, in this new edition we offer the opportunity for all students currently enrolled, or who have completed their studies in the previous year, in any university or educational institution at any level, anywhere in the world, to submit their works to the festival.
This new edition, Facom Fest 2025, will take place from November 24th to 27th, 2025, in Santiago de Compostela.

Jury and Awards
In both competitive categories (GALICIAN COMPETITION and INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION) one winning work will be chosen in each and awarded with a trophy, certificate, and the following prizes:
1) Galician Competition: a prize valued at €300, plus a personalized virtual mentorship (4 hours) with the distribution company La Machina. The mentorship can be held either as a single 4-hour session or two 2-hour sessions, aimed at guiding the film’s team in the world of distribution and promotion.
2) International Competition: a prize valued at €200.
Additionally, the jury reserves the right to grant up to five special mentions in each category, chosen from the following:
Best Direction
Best Cinematography
Best Art Direction
Best Screenplay
Best Editing
Best Performance
Best Sound
Best Original Soundtrack
In this way, the jury can choose from these 8 mentions which ones to award to the participants (reminder: a maximum of 5). The organization reserves the right not to award any mention if it deems it unnecessary.
Furthermore, a new mandatory award will be granted: the Audience Award. At the end of each screening day, attendees will receive a QR code granting access to a survey where they can rate each screened work from 1 to 5. An average score will then be calculated for each film. The work with the highest average rating will receive the Audience Award. In case of a tie, the film with the greatest number of maximum ratings will win. A significant participation rate will be required for the results to be considered valid. This award is valued at €100.
In the competitive section, there will be a jury for each category (composed of one person from the young jury, one person working in the audiovisual sector, and one person dedicated to film criticism) in order to have a broader range of perspectives regarding the evaluation of the works:
Youth Jury: formed by students from the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). Selection will be based on an application form completed by interested students, including personal details and their preferred jury category.
Professional Jury: composed of one professional from the audiovisual sector and one film critic.
We are deeply committed to ensuring balanced representation, reaffirming our commitment to gender equality and the visibility of all voices in both the jury and the festival’s programming.

1.About the festival

Thus, in this new edition we offer the opportunity for all students currently enrolled, or who have completed their studies in the previous year, in any university or educational institution at any level, anywhere in the world, to submit their works to the festival.
This new edition, Facom Fest 2025, will take place from November 24th to 27th, 2025, in Santiago de Compostela.
2. Sections
Facom Fest is composed of two main sections: the competitive section and the parallel sections.
2.1. Competitive Section
The festival’s programming team understands that, in the 21st century, the boundaries between genres are increasingly blurred. Today, documentary and fiction often converge, as do other avant-garde formats that, in our view, should not be relegated to separate categories. Therefore, we believe the most fair and contemporary approach is to include all types of films within the same framework. As previously indicated, any student currently studying or who finished their studies in the 2024–2025 academic year may submit works of any genre or modality, by registering in one of the following two categories:
GALICIAN COMPETITION: this category includes works created by: 1)Galician students enrolled in a Galician university or educational center; 2)Galician students who created their work at a non-Galician academic institution; 3)Non-Galician students who created their work while studying at a Galician university or educational center.
INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION: this category includes works created by students from outside Galicia who do not meet the third condition of the Galician Competition, regardless of whether they are from another part of Spain or from any other country.
Selected works will be included in the official program and screened during the festival.
2.2. Parallel Sections
Within the parallel sections, there may be a non-competitive section open to all types of works submitted by students. This section is focused on showcasing projects whose creators wish to present their work without seeking any type of compensation, as well as pieces of a promotional nature, such as music videos, fashion films, or commercials, or any other works that the organization deems unsuitable for the competitive categories. Registration for this section will follow the same process as for the competitive section, as explained later in this document.
In addition, the programming team will curate a small thematic showcase under the theme “Technology, New Intelligences, and the Digital Image,” composed of films selected exclusively by the organization. This thematic line serves only as a conceptual axis for the showcase and does not affect the eligibility of works submitted by participants.
Selected works will be included in the festival’s program and screened accordingly.
The organization reserves the right to add different awards, mentions, or additional parallel sections.
3. Submission of Works
3.1 Works may be submitted either through the official submission form or via our Festhome page. Both will remain open from October 22nd to November 7th. In the form, authors must provide their personal details and the essential characteristics of their work, as well as indicate the section in which they wish to compete.
3.1.1 A link must be included that allows both viewing and downloading of the work. The content delivery services accepted for the festival, in addition to the aforementioned Festhome, are the following:
OneDrive
Google Drive
Vimeo (download option required)
Mega
Any works sent through other means will be automatically disqualified.
For the competitive section, it is essential that each individual or team submitting their work includes, in the form (https://forms.gle/XKdzMrKhqjFKm2Pw5), a link to a shared folder containing a project dossier in editable format (.docx or .odt) along with separate graphic materials. This dossier must include the following information (where applicable):
Title of the work
Year of production
Country of production
Educational institution
language of the work
duration of the work
Direction
Production
Screenplay
Cast and characters
Editing
Cinematography
Sound
Original soundtrack
Art direction
Short synopsis/summary (between 25 and 250 words)
Previous trajectory of the work, specifying the context in which it was made and whether it has been selected in any competition or festival before
Required graphic materials include:
Film stills and poster (if available)
Trailer or teaser (either as a file or as a link to the clip)
If the work is selected, the information and materials provided may be
used for creating content for the festival’s website and social media.
Any works submitted without the requested materials, or missing required data, will be automatically disqualified.
3.2. The submitted works must meet the following technical requirements:
Maximum duration:
60 minutes
Resolution: minimum 720p, maximum 1080p at submission. Selected works must later provide a 4K version or the highest available quality for screening upon request.
Accepted file formats: .mp4, .mov, or QuickTime
Codec: H.264 or H.265
subtitles: Works not in Galician or Spanish must include english subtitles (.srt format). If this is not technically or practically possible, the work must be delivered with english subtitles.
3.3. Each person may submit a maximum of three works, with a separate registration form for each.
3.4. The submission period runs from October 22nd to November 7th, 2025. Once closed, the festival organization will form a selection committee to decide which works will be included in the official program.
If a work is selected, the author will be contacted prior to the public announcement of the program to confirm the assigned category and authorize the screening.
The festival reserves the right to exhibit the selected works for up to one year in non-profit screenings at Galician universities and cultural centers.

Within the parallel sections, there may be a non-competitive section open to all types of works submitted by students.
