This call addresses every person, collective, agencies, exhibitions and producers that have produced and/or own the exhibition rights of audivisual pieces of short length and of documentary, argumentative, experimental and videoart nature; on movie film, video or animation formats.

FICICA 20: CINE A LA CALLE INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL
OPEN CALL


Our call is open to all individuals, agencies, art collectives or producers that own the rights of short length audiovisual work, including documentary, argumentative, experimental and/or video-art. Short films must have been produced in film, video or animation format.

FICICA will take place from may 26th to may 30th in Barranquilla, Colombia. Please join us!


This is what you need to know to participate!


Please make sure that your short film fulfill the following requirements:

The length limit of the short film is 25 minutes; no exceptions will be admitted.

There are no restrictions on the topic of the short film.

Short films spoken in a language different than Spanish must include subtitles, either embedded or in SRT submitted in an attached document. Please consider that this is an international festival that gathers together people in parks and squares across the city who compose a very diverse audience while we reach places that commercial film distributing companies don’t reach. It’s very important for the audience to experience and to connect with your short film, so it’s essential that your subtitles are big enough for anyone to read it and that the color chosen is coherent with the background.

The call is open only for short films produced during 2019 and 2020 Before the closing of the call.

You are able to participate with multiple shorts. Just make sure all of them have been released during 2019 - 2020.

Short films must have an excellent quality in image and sound.

If your short film fulfill all requirements, please submit it as soon as possible! Instructions as follow:

Visit www.festhome.com and submit your short. These two online submissions platforms are the only ones we will use to download your short.

There is no registration fee to our Festival. However, a cost might be charged to you by the corresponding submission platform.

Submission platforms will be open for submissions from December 28th, 2019 until February 15th, 2020 6:00 PM (18:00) Colombia time. https://24timezones.com/#/map


Upload your short film(s) in any of the following two platforms www.festhome.com and attach:
Short Film Poster
2 high resolution photos
Technical sheet
Synopsis in Spanish and English. Both languages.
Document with Spanish subtitles in the case the film does not have them embedded.

Wait patiently until March 16th, 2020 when we will publish on our official webpage: www.cinealacalle.org the short films that have been selected. Remember, having submitted your short does not mean it has been selected.

If you short was selected, you will receive a notification to the email address you specify in the submission. Through this email we will request: short trailer, written authorization to extract fragments of your short film for official videos and promotion and any other information needed for the press office, and the official written confirmation of your participation. Any additional information will be shared using the email provided.


A team composed by curators and a qualified jury will choose, from the selected short films to be exhibited during the festival, which ones are nominated on the following categories:

Best Local Short Film *Aimed to short films of Directors from Barranquilla or residents of the city.
Best National Short Film
Best International Short Film
Content for Children Award * This award is given to the best short film with content aimed for children. (This is an additional award, not a category).

You will receive an email notifying you that you have been nominated for the possibility to win a Maria Mulata Statuette and USD500

Winners will be chosen during the days of the festival and will be announced during our closing ceremony on May 30th, and the names will be published on our official webpage. Each of the winners will receive an email notifying that have won and the steps to receive your award. Online transmission will be available through: https://www.instagram.com/cinealacalle/

Please take into consideration:
The owners of the rights of the officially selected short films authorize FICICA (International Short Film Festival Cine A la Calle) to screen their films during the event. The short films received and selected will remain as part of the videotheque of the festival. Screenings with an educational or cultural character that take place outside the frame the FICICA will take place only with the corresponding authorization and approval of the owner of the rights who will be properly notified.
