The Granada Geopark International Short Film Festival “CORTOS EN CORTES” was established with the aim of promoting audiovisual creation as a cultural, educational and artistic tool, fostering interaction between filmmakers, audiences and the rural community.
The festival champions cinema as a space for social reflection and creativity, supporting both emerging and established creators at national and international level, and making the language of film accessible to all audiences.

2. OBJECTIVES
• To promote film culture in rural areas.
• To support international audiovisual creation.
• To encourage audience participation as an active part of the festival.
• To promote children’s and youth cinema as an educational tool.

Venue: Cortes de Baza (Granada, Spain)
Official screenings: 17, 18 and 19 July 2026
Closing ceremony and awards ceremony: 25 July 2026

1. INTRODUCTION
The Granada Geopark International Short Film Festival “CORTOS EN CORTES” was established with the aim of promoting audiovisual creation as a cultural, educational and artistic tool, fostering interaction between filmmakers, audiences and the rural community.
The festival champions cinema as a space for social reflection and creativity, supporting both emerging and established creators at national and international level, and making the language of film accessible to all audiences.


2. OBJECTIVES
• To promote film culture in rural areas.
• To support international audiovisual creation.
• To encourage audience participation as an active part of the festival.
• To promote children’s and youth cinema as an educational tool.

3. KEY DATES

• Call for entries opens: 17 March 2026
• Entry deadline: 31 May 2026
• Announcement of selected works: 20 June 2026
• Announcement of finalists: 10 July 2026 (the corresponding certificate of selection will be sent)
• Official screenings: 17, 18 and 19 July 2026
• Closing Gala and awards ceremony: 25 July 2026


4. OFFICIAL SECTIONS (SUITABLE FOR ALL AUDIENCES)
4.1 Documentary Section: Open to documentary short films on any subject.
4.2 Youth and Children’s Section: Works aimed at children or young people, including fiction, animation or documentary.
4.3 Fiction Section: Fiction short films of any genre.

5. OFFICIAL SELECTION
The selection committee will choose four finalists for each section. The selected films will be screened publicly on 17, 18 and 19 July 2026.


6. VOTING SYSTEM
The audience attending the screenings will choose the winning film in each section by direct vote after each session. The audience’s decision will be final and binding.

Audience Award – Fiction Section
Each winner will receive:
- The official festival statuette designed by the artist Ramón Salarich.
- Accommodation for two people for two nights (24–26 July 2026) in Cortes de Baza.


8. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
• Individuals or legal entities of legal age.
• Works produced on or after 1 January 2025.
• Maximum duration: 30 minutes (including credits).
• Works from any country.
• language: Spanish subtitles if not in Spanish.
• Each participant may submit more than one film.
• All films must be suitable for all audiences.
• High-quality digital format (.mp4 or .mov H264).


9. REGISTRATION
Registration via official film distribution platforms or the form provided by the organisers. Participation implies full acceptance of these terms and conditions.


10. SELECTION PROCESS
• All entries will be viewed by a committee appointed by the festival management.
• Finalists will be selected by the committee.
• The decision is final and non-appealable.
• Entries may be invited to screen out of competition.


11. SCREENING RIGHTS
• They will form part of the official programme.
• Public and free screenings.
• Clips of up to 1 minute for promotional purposes.
• No subsequent commercial exploitation will be permitted without authorisation.


12. LEGAL LIABILITY
• Declaration of screening rights.
• No infringement of third-party rights.
• Exemption of the organisation from legal liability.


13. ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES
Registration implies full acceptance of these rules. The organisation reserves the right to resolve any unforeseen circumstances.
