5 Film & Photo Awards Festival

The 5 Film & Photo Award is an International Event for Film and Photography with the Intention to create a bridge between different countries and cultures. The Festival is inspired by a 500 years old tree in the suburb of Damavand, located in the village of Aro.

This tree has been the subject of photographs of International Director and photographer Abbas Kiarostami every year in different seasons for many years. His photographs have been exhibited under the title “Snow White” in world-renowned galleries such as the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Museum of Contemporary Art in New York.

About 5 years ago, Mahdi Khorashadizadeh, a documentary photographer and Filmmaker and the Founder of 5 Film & Photo Awards photographed this tree again and created the festival to celebrate this cultural and iconic symbol, which symboliyes Abbas Kiarostami’s artistic legacy.

The number “5” is derived from the movie “5” made by Abbas Kiarostami, which has been published in 2002 and contains 5 scenes with the average duration of 16 minutes.

Festival 5 is a prestigious and large festival for film and photography. This festival supports artists from all over the world by awarding exquisite prizes. We have been holding this festival for five years. Our goal is to find independent and modern artists. We support independent artists. Artists who have worked hard to produce their works.

Single Gold Tree Award
This award is the most important and the main award of the International 5 Film & Photo Awards Festival , one of which is awarded to the best Film of this Festival.

Abbas Kiarostami Golden Camera Award

This award is the Jury award, which is one of the most important awards of this Festival،which will be given to the selected person every year along with a statue of Abbas Kiarostami's hand and a golden camera.

The New Look Award for the film section is the most important award of the International 5 Film & Photo Awards Festival

filmmaking that, unlike other films, does not follow many traditional rules and customary rules of cinema and uses unusual and new ways to tell stories. Many experimental films have a lot to do with other arts such as painting, poetry and literature. Although some experimental films in the history of cinema have been made with high budgets and with the help of big film studios, most of the experimental films are made and screened with low budgets and personally, and the number of actors is also proportional to other films in it. It is much less.

Experimental film
Many novice filmmakers usually turn to making experimental films for their first works. The purpose of making an experimental film is to provide a new perspective of issues that are generally the personal concerns of the filmmaker himself and it is not just about entertainment. Experimental films usually do not sell very well at the box office and their audience is very limited compared to other types of cinema.

All submitted works must be based on artistic and professional standards. Acceptance works of sexual and racial discrimination will be prevented.

- Movies containing acceptable nudity or violence.

- Despite the lack of restrictions on the topic and category, with regard to independent cinema in supporting innovation and change in cinema, short films that use a genre in an original way will have more priority.

- The duration of the film should not exceed 40 minutes.

- A pre-selection committee, appointed by the festival for each category, will watch all submissions and make the final selection.

- In case your work is accepted for display in the festival, the original video (un-subtitled) is required along with subtitles and transcripts in both the original language as well as in English.

- Once the film has been selected and confirmed, the film cannot be withdrawn from the festival program.

- Iranian short films for the international section will be selected through interaction between the National and International Selection teams.
