The Lima Docs Documentary Film Festival will take place from May 22nd to 25th, 2025. In its first edition, the festival invites filmmakers from all over the country to submit their documentary short films.

The festival will announce on social media the various prizes sponsored by allied entities and which will be awarded at the end of the festival. Some of them will include a monetary incentive along with official recognition.

The registration period begins on January 23rd and is free for all short films until March 10th, 2025. From March 11th to March 31st, registration for both the YOUNG COMPETITION and the OFFICIAL COMPETITION will cost S/20.

The festival accepts documentary short films in all their forms: The work may have any theme and technique, but its duration must be less than twenty (20) minutes. Likewise, it may explore the possibilities of audiovisual cinematographic language, personal forms and unconventional forms, and may of course explore the limits of the documentary format itself in its infinite subgenres and mixtures.

The festival prioritizes premieres. National short films that have been premiered or pre-premiered at another festival in the country will be automatically disqualified, although the organizing committee reserves the right to make exceptions. The selected short films cannot be withdrawn from the festival or exhibited in Peru before their official presentation at LIMA DOCS.

The festival will have two competitive sections of short films, the YOUNG COMPETITION and the OFFICIAL COMPETITION, and their creators will be responsible for assigning each work to the appropriate category. In addition, the people linked to the selected films must keep their participation confidential until the official announcement by the festival.

The YOUNG COMPETITION invites filmmakers from 18 to 25 years old, both university students, institutes and study centers, as well as young filmmakers from outside institutions, new creators of documentary short films.
