Maravíllame, the University of Cádiz International Short Film Festival, aims to promote film culture and facilitate the exchange of talent and knowledge between the academic and professional spheres.
It will take place on 14, 15 and 16 April 2026 in Jerez de la Frontera, and its programme includes a screening of short films made by university students, a competition with awards in the categories of fiction short film and documentary short film, UCA advertising spot, audiovisual services short film and SEA-EU short film; masterclasses, round tables and workshops with the participation of national and international professionals and teachers.
In addition, spaces will be provided for professionals and university students to meet with the aim of creating networks and synergies that will help to develop the Spanish film industry and promote the young talent being trained in our universities.
Cash Prizes: 1,500€
€1,500 prize for the best fiction short film.
€1,500 prize for the best documentary short film.
€750 prize for the best advertising spot made by students from the University of Cadiz (mandatory requirement).
Prize for the best SEA-EU short film.
Prize for the best short film from Spanish university audiovisual services.
The Maravíllame coordination reserves the right to establish other prizes in addition to those listed above.
The competition is open to university students and university staff. First- and second-cycle university students, undergraduates, master's students and doctoral students are eligible to participate. Short films directed/produced by university students will be considered university student short films.
1. REQUIREMENTS
1.1. Originality and format. Short films must be original works and may be recorded with any device (the highest possible quality is recommended).
1.2. Date of production. Short films made on or after 1 January 2025 will be accepted.
Short films that have been selected in previous editions will not be accepted.
For the Audiovisual Services Productions category, works made since 2023 will be accepted.
1.3. duration. The maximum duration will be 15 minutes.
1.4. Theme. The short films must address one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
1.5. Submission. Short films must be submitted exclusively through Festhome.
1.6. Special categories
UCA advertising spot: exclusively for students of the University of Cadiz.
SEA-EU category: open to students from the following universities:

1.7. Audiovisual Service Production Category (Spanish Universities)
Award for the best production that disseminates knowledge or reflects university life.
Co-productions between universities will not be accepted.
Maximum duration: 15 minutes.
The technical production must have been carried out by university staff assigned to communication or audiovisual production services.
External production companies are not permitted to participate.
Participation will be by service or department, not by university.
1.8. deadline. The deadline for submitting short films and documentation is 1 March 2026.
2. REGISTRATION
2.1. Registration will be done through the FESTHOME platform. Proof of registration must be sent to the festival's email address: cine.maravillame@uca.es. The organisation is not responsible for the poor or non-existent reception of materials.
2.2. Participants declare that they accept the processing of personal data necessary for the management of the competition.
3. JURY
The jury will be composed of members of the University of Cádiz and other university communities, professionals from the sector and members of other institutions, always respecting the principles of parity.
4. RIGHTS AND DUTIES OF PARTICIPANTS
4.1. Under no circumstances will short films that do not respect human rights, democratic values and equality, or that contain offensive or disrespectful content towards individuals or groups, be accepted for the competition.
4.2. Participants are responsible for ensuring that there are no third-party rights to the use of musical pieces in the works submitted, nor any claims for image rights of the people appearing in them, and that the short films submitted are not subject to any legal claims and comply with intellectual property law, exempting the Organisation from any liability. In the event that part of the sound used is the property of a record company without having obtained its permission, it is possible that, for legal reasons, the short film may be reproduced on the website without sound.
4.3. The authors of the works transfer to the Organiser of the competition the rights to exploit them, consisting of the reproduction and exhibition of the short film within the general framework of the Festival, in any of its editions, as well as for the purposes of advertising or promoting it, rights which shall always be exercised with the recognition of authorship and Creative Commons Licence.
4.4. Any unforeseen circumstances arising in relation to the Short Film Festival that are not expressly covered in these rules will be resolved at the discretion of the organisers.
4.5. Participation in the competition implies full acceptance of these rules.
5. DATA PROTECTION
In accordance with the European Data Protection Regulation (GDPR 2016/679 of the European Parliament) and Organic Law 3/2018 of 5 December on the Protection of Personal Data and Guarantee of Digital Rights, the personal data of those participating in Maravíllame, Interuniversity Short Film Festival, will not be used for any purpose other than the management of the competition and the Festival itself, and under no circumstances will it be transferred to third parties without prior consent.
