Maravíllame, the Interuniversity Short Film Festival of the University of Cádiz has as main objectives to promote cinematographic culture and facilitate the exchange of talent and knowledge between the university and professional spheres.

It will take place on 16, 17 and 18 April 2024 in Jerez de la Frontera, and its programme includes an exhibition of short films made by university students, a competition with prize-giving in the categories of short fiction and short documentary, a masterclass with a prize-giving ceremony in the categories of short fiction and short documentary, a masterclass with a prize-giving ceremony in the categories of short fiction and documentary short films, masterclasses, round tables and workshops with the participation of national and international professionals and teachers.

In addition, meeting spaces will be provided for professionals and university students with the aim of creating networks and synergies that help to develop the Spanish film industry and to promote the young talent trained in our universities.

1500 € prize for the best fiction short film.

1500 € prize for the best documentary short film.

The coordination of Maravíllame reserves the right to establish other prizes in addition to those mentioned above.

The competition is aimed at university students. The competition is open to first and second cycle university students, undergraduate, master's and doctoral students. The authorship of the short films can be individual or group.

1. REQUIREMENTS

1.1. The short films must be original and can be recorded with any recording device (the highest quality possible is recommended).

1.2. The date of production of the short film is limited to the year prior to the celebration of the Festival, that is to say that in the 2024 edition, short films made from January 2023 onwards will be accepted.

1.3. The maximum length of the short films is 15 minutes.

- The theme of the short films is the problems addressed in the 1.4. Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

1.5. The short films will be sent through the Festhome platform, and will be accompanied by a technical and artistic file, contact details, a brief biographical note of the person or persons signing as filmmakers, as well as proof of university enrolment during the period of production of the short film.

2. REGISTRATION
2.1. Registrations will be made through the form provided on the website of the Festival, and will become effective once the audiovisual material has been correctly received through the FESTHOME Platform. The organisation accepts no responsibility for poor or non-receipt of the materials.

2.2. Participants will declare that they accept the processing of the personal data necessary for the management of the competition.

3. JURY
The jury will be made up of members of the University of Cadiz and other university communities, professionals from the sector and members of other institutions, always respecting the principles of parity.

4. RIGHTS AND DUTIES OF PARTICIPANTS

4.1. Under no circumstances will short films that do not respect human rights, democratic values and equality, or that have offensive or disrespectful contents towards persons or groups be accepted for the competition.

4.2. The contestants are responsible for ensuring that there are no rights to third parties for the use of musical pieces in the works presented, nor any claim for image rights of the people who appear in them, as well as that the short films presented are not subject to any legal claim and are within the provisions of the law of intellectual property, exempting the Organisation from any type of responsibility. In the event that part of the sound used is the property of a record company without having obtained their permission, it is possible that, for legal reasons, the reproduction of the short film on the website will be without sound.

4.3. The authors of the works cede to the Organisation of the competition the exploitation rights of these, consisting in the reproduction and exhibition of the short film within the general framework of the Festival, in any of its editions, as well as for advertising or promotional purposes, rights that will always be exercised with the acknowledgement of authorship and Creative Commons License.

4.4. Any unforeseen eventuality arising in relation to the development of the Muestra Interuniversitaria de Cortometrajes not expressly contemplated in these rules will be resolved in accordance with the criteria of the organisers.

4.5. Participation in the competition implies full acceptance of its rules.

5. DATA PROTECTION
In accordance with the European Data Protection Regulation (RGPD 2016/679 of the European Parliament), and the Organic Law 3/2018, of 5 December, on Personal Data Protection and guarantee of digital rights, the personal data of the participants in Maravíllame, Muestra Interuniversitaria de Cortometrajes, will not be used for any purpose other than the management of the competition and the Muestra itself, and in no case will they be transferred to third parties without prior consent.
