The 7th annual Skyline Benidorm Film Festival will be celebrated from the March 25th through April 1st 2023, in the city of Benidorm (Spain).

The headquarters of the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival are located at:
Plaza de S.S.M.M Los Reyes de España 1, Benidorm (Alicante-Spain) and its official website www.skylinefest.es offers detailed information.

The Skyline Benidorm Film Festival aims to promote, disseminate, professionalize and enhance short-form cinema.

ARTICLE 1. DATES
The celebration of the 7th edition of the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival will take place in the city of Benidorm, Spain, between March 25th to April 1st, 2023.

ARTICLE 2. REQUIREMENTS
Fiction, animation and documentary films will be able to compete, if their length doesn’t exceed a maximum duration of 30 minutes and if they were produced after April 1st of 2021. It will be positively valued if the short film was premieres at the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival.

Short films can compete in the following sections:

• Official National Section – Goya Qualifying
Only Spanish-produced short films may participate in the Official National Short Film Section.

• European Section
Short films produced in any European Union country except Spain may participate. The works must be registered, preferably, with Spanish subtitles, although screening copies with english subtitles will also be accepted.

• Latin American Section
Any short film whose production belongs to a south American country.

• Young filmmakers Section
National competition of short films directed by students under 25 years old. The duration cannot exceed 10 minutes and the theme must revolve around gender equality and / or integration).

• Best Valencian short film
All the short films participating in the official national section, whose production company has the tax address in the Valencian Community.


ARTICLE 3. REGISTRATION

The registration period will open on October 26th, 2022, and it will remain open until December 23rd, 2022. Each author may submit a maximum of two films.

The films may be registered in the different categories through any of the following platform:

REGISTRATION FEES

Official National Section:
Until December 9th, 2022, the early registration fee will be 7€.

From December 10th to the 23rd, 2022, the late registration fee will be 14€.

European Section:
Until December 9th, 2022, the early registration fee will be 14€.

From December 10th to the 23rd, 2022, the late registration fee will be 20€.

Latin American Section:
Until December 9th, 2022, the early registration fee will be 14€.

From December 10th to the 23rd, 2022, the late registration fee will be 20€
.
Young Filmmakers Category:
From October 25th to December 23rd, 2022. Tax exempt.

The awards will be paid by bank transfer to the legal person who has made the registration or is directly linked to the registered work in question, being subject to the legal withholdings established by current law. The trophies and awards will be presented at the final gala to the director, producer or representative of each of the awarded short films. The organization will not be responsible for the shipping costs of the trophies of those not attending the festival.

Once the festival communicates that it is going to proceed to make the payment for the selection and the prizes, the interested parties will have a period of four months to send the pertinent documentation. After that period, they will not be able to claim any amount from the festival.


ARTICLE 5. PAYMENT PER SELECTION

The organization will pay 200€ to all the short films selected in the Official National Section as payment per selection and exhibition rights.

Participation in this festival involves the transfer of the screening rights of the images sent within the scope of the festival itself, which will be archived by the organization if deemed appropriate and in agreement with the owners of the short films.
Authors must inform the organization if they are part of the SGAE or any other society that manages their royalties, since the payment of this amount covers the copyright of the projected works.

The amount of all cash prizes awarded by the festival or its sponsors shall be subject to the tax restrictions established by law.


ARTICLE 6. SELECTION OF FILMS

One month before the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival, the organization will inform those finally selected of their participation in the different sections of the festival. The films selected for the competition must confirm their participation within 72 hours.

The producer or representative who has confirmed the participation of the film in the festival will be responsible for the communication of acceptance and participation in the festival with respect to institutions, companies, sales agents and other professionals in general who participate in the production and / or film distribution.

The invitation of each film selected by the festival will be strictly confidential between its management and the producers or representatives of each of the invited films until the festival decides to announce it officially public.


ARTICLE 7. JURIES

The juries will be formed by prominent professionals from the film industry and will be in charge of deciding the awards.

Each jury may declare any of the awards void if it deems it appropriate, as well as award a second award without financial prize.

No person who is an interested party in the production or exhibition of the films on which they must render their verdict may not participate as a jury.

The decisions of the jury will be final.


ARTICLE 8. DELIVERY OF SCREENING AND PROMOTION MATERIALS

The festival Organization reserves the right not to accept copies that, after the control of the festival’s technical department, are unsuitable for screening.

The festival organization will notify the owners or representatives of the films if some irregularities were found in the copy.

All exhibition copies of the selected films must be sent by download link before February 18th 2023.

ARTICLE 9. GENERAL RULES

The festival Organization will determine the format and the projection schedule, either in person or online. In any case, the face-to-face screening at headquarters will be subject to what the health authorities determine on the scheduled dates. Regardless of the programming in person.

The selection committee of the festival will be in charge of choosing the works that will become part of the competitive official section, as well as the rest of the sections, informing all participants personally and in writing of the result of the official selection.

The festival Management may withdraw at any time a film that does not comply with any of the rules of these regulations. Likewise, the falsification of the production data may lead to its withdrawal from the different competitive sections, even if it had been selected for some of them.

The festival will bear the cost of accommodation and meals for a representative of each selected film during the days that they are invited to the festival. If the guest wants to come with a companion, this extra expense will not be covered by the festival in any case.

The festival may screen the selected short films at the locations and times it deems appropriate during the days of the festival and in parallel screenings that may take place during the rest of the year, up to a maximum of five sessions, always informing the creators beforehand and with their consent.

The director, producer or representative of the works selected for the competition will take part in a discussion after the screenings of their works.

Short films whose production company is Valencian, will also compete for the award for best Valencian short film.


ARTICLE 10. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The author or owner will maintain their intellectual rights and it will be his competence as long as they are not subject to any legal responsibility, as there are no rights to third parties.

The presentation of a short film to SKYLINE BENIDORM FILM FESTIVAL entails, by the selected participants, the non-exclusive transfer of the materials to the organization for use in the different activities with the festival sponsors.

All documentation received will become part of the festival archive.


ARTICLE 11. ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES

The inscription to the festival implies the acceptance of these basic rules and regulations.
Any question not foreseen will be resolved by the organization of the festival.

They are subject to possible modifications and / or annexes for reasons beyond the control of the organization.
